Hey all, been a while. Life has been good, what with Kendra growing so rapidly, staying stupid busy at work and all that Jazz. I do drop in from time to time to catch up, but have missed a bit. Anywhose.... I'm at home today nursing myself awaiting my doctors appointment. You see, some things I refuse to give up, and one of them is snowmobiling. Gotta love the frozen tundra and snow, best time of year there is. The reason I'm home is my little foray off the beaten track up near Midland, yup, in your neck of the woods Dan! Seems the guy leading our little expedition wants to go a quicker route rather than the groomed and marked trails. So off we go running up the side of the 400 highway, having to "sidehill" to get over the culverts running under the highway. It's at one of these culverts that I don't get a good enough run at, I catch the culvert which throws me into a half side loop, I fly off the sled taking a mirror with my left shoulder, landing on the ground with my right shoulder going into a perfectly executed Hollywood cop roll! All this happened in the slowest of slow motion, and I'm thinking to myself, Dang, this is gonna lay me a big hurt! Nothing beats the sound of your spine cracking like at the chiropractor inside of your helmet! So as I'm laying there in my dazed and stupid act, one of the sledders comes over and asks if I'm ok. I moan, to which he adds, Man, that was spectacular, and your sled landed shiny side up! Others in the group behind pull up thinking I'm taking a nap as my sled looks as if all I did was get off of it, minus a mirror. When they hear of what happened, a couple know of my back, and they try to keep me still. No luck, I wanna get up and get home! I was very sore, and very stiff, every bump seemed as if I was sitting on a pogo with no spring! YeeeeeOwwwww!!! After the agonizingly loooong trip back, I stumble into the in-laws where I recouped for the rest of the week-end. Oh ya, I forgot to mention that this is a brand new snowmobile, a 2004 Ski-Doo GSX, on it's maiden trip to boot! Now I gotta buy a mirror! So here I sit waiting to go to the docs, wonder what I've done to my back. It must be part good, I can lay flat again!!!  Shoulder blades are sore, I get stabbing pains in my chest when I lay on my side, neck is stiff..... hmmm, guess it could've been worse! Next time I'll go faster!  Doug

You may have to give up some of your favorite things to be able to be with your new favorite thing.(your daughter) She is so beautiful!!!!

Hey Doug! Jeeze, man, you surely do know how to do things right, eh. If youcould see me shaking my head. But then, that's what you get for asking for the white stuff. Wow Doug... I am cringing just reading, I do not doubt has caused some pain. But I have heard of much worse snowmobile accidents than yours, so maybe thankful for that.

Well, I got the news from the Doc......... no broken bones, phew!, but some bruising that'll sting for a little bit...... thank goodness.... so now I'll definately have to go faster!  Nancy, thanks, and although Kendra is my favourite new thing, I can't get her to go vroom in the snow!!! Kat, they give their best back, and yes, I can do things right, eh? NOT! Next time I'll give it a little more gas! Some peeps just don't learn, eh? Thanks Cara, she is my little angel! And I'll be ok after a few more Leaf wins! chrstnekay, I think Rosie has a point there!!! Biased? Dang tootin I am! Thanks. Tim, considering that a 52 year old lost his life when he collided with an ATV,and a 14 year old girl broke her leg in 2 places and has a concusion(sp?) after smacking into a groomer, just to name a couple, yes, I am thankful. But it is fun though! Doug

Good to see you posting...thought you fell into the ice or something....You will have to stick to those OFSC groomed trails or the ice to keep safe. Good to hear that nothing is broken except for a mirror...just double up on the pain killers and you will be set to do it again this weekend... ....no falling off though.....
