Ok, nearly 1 week on from my steroid injection , here are my thoughts.

Although i reacted badly from the injection itself, they told me it was most probably due to the preservatives in the bottle rather than the steroid, so was told it would probably still work.

Well, nearly a week later and I have to admit, it has done something that no other drug has done. Yep, I still have to take my other painkillers, but I can actually walk now without people looking at me wondering what the hells wrong with me! I dont seem to get as much pain when im sat in a strange position, or if im active (does that make sense?) whereas a week ago, sitting at my desk and studying would give me pain within 10 minutes and id have to move around before sitting down again.

The downsides are these. I feel soooooooo wired its unbelievable. The guy told me that I would wake up the next day feeling like Id had 10 cups of coffee - I didnt realise that id still feel like that a week later! This has the unfortunate problem of keeping me awake till 1am ish and stop start sleep all night, but the thing is - I dont feel tired next day. Strange? My wife cant believe the change in me and has asked for some of what ive had! Its been a while since ive been able to go shopping, wash the car, cut the grass, trim the hedges etc all in one day.

My wife keeps waiting now for the day I wake up in total pain due to the extra activity Ive been doing, but none yet.

Its just weird what a little bottle of steroid can do. I wont be able to have it again due to the allergic reaction, so will have to look at my options for alternative steroids, or maybe in oral form, but if this "wired" feeling continues, I probably wont risk it - its great doing more things, but its a pain when your still sat up in bed at 1am looking around for people to talk to!

Its 9 15 here and do I wanna go to bed? Nope, i wanna go and swim a few lengths (but I cant, no pool in my house!) , run a marathon and play football!!

i had steroid shots in my si joints and a couple of days later i found myself at the emergency room. my blood pressure soared to 180/120, my pulse was 126 and the room was spinning. i had no pain for about 2 weeks. it was not worth it...i could have had a stroke!!

i hope you have better luck.

Sounds awful oldbones :-( How long did they take to get your stable - did you get any relief from the injections at all?

I've been a bit too eager to post its delights to be honest - had a terrible night last nite, was 2.30 am before i slept and i woke up every hour (bolt upright in bed type of waking) before finally getting out for good at 6 am. The pains back in my feet and its the old case of counting my chickens etc etc

If this insomnia continues, Ill have to see the Doc, but I guess its just a case of waiting for the drug to wear off (4 - 6 weeks so they told me )

Was it painful having those injections in the SI joints? I had them done in my feet a couple of times in the past and it was horrendous, although last weeks injection whilst sore was only intramuscular and a general injection rather than specific.

as an As'er, pain is relative...so the shots in the si joints were bearable. i had relief from pain for about 2 weeks. my pressure is now about 160/100...still high. (after 4 weeks). so now i have the same old pain in the butt...along with high blood pressure!! unlike you, i was able to sleep...but i was hyped. i cleaned out closets, reorganized, rearranged. i felt like the incredible hulk.

again, for me it's not worth it. i hope that you will feel better and get some rest!
