Hello I am a 31 year old female who just recently found out all this darn pain is AS. It is so nice to know I am not in this alone. I feel like my world just crashed. I am still waiting on my x-rays to see how bad this darn AS has effected me so far. I have had severe pain for several years that started in my SI joint. Thought it was related to my head on car collision, and just a few days ago I found out it was AS. I have been going from doctor to doctor for years. I have had elivated compliments and they told me that can be normal?GO figure.. Anyhow at least now I know what is causing all this nightmare. I am trying to look up and I am sure I will once this really sinks in...... Hello everyone, and I am glad to be able to share what I am going through with people who totally understand... http://www.pugminirex.com/

First off Welcome to KickAS.

and I know exectally what you are going though. My AS was brought on through a head on collision too. so I know how hard it is not knowing why you still have pain when doctors said you should be healed up. It wasnt until 2 years after my accident that I was finally diagnosed with AS, 2 years of pain with out knowing what is really wrong. that reall put a damper in my day to find out. its been about 3 years now that I have been dx's so I know what your going through. if you need any help or have any questions that I might be able to answer msg me. and once again Welcome.

Hi Tricia,

Welcome to Kickas, I think you will like it here. I had a bad basketball injury that doctors felt was the rout cause of my SI pain.... but it never left and did not feel like the pain I had previously from a basketball injury. So took a bit longer to get diagnosed, but still I was diagnosed much quicker than most.

A lot to learn here and great support as well. Best of luck in getting the AS under control, do not be afraid to ask questions, it is a good way to learn from others.

Tim

Hope is only a post away with KickAS.

AS may win some battles, but I will win the war.

Hi Tricia,... and Welcome to KA!

Although you have already lived with such pain for several years, it is never an easy thing to hear you've been dx'ed with something they can't 'fix'. I got that news back when I was 21 y/o after 2 yrs of wondering about the cause of such bad and constant pain. Now I'm 42 y/o and although it did take some getting used to, I've managed to enjoy life regardless of this chronic disorder, and I bet you will too!

This place is a true asset! Lots of info, support, and more than a few comedians to keep us all laughing!

hello, yes, welcome...

i had a dream a month ago about horse back riding...it's been 37 years...it was such a
good dream...i awoke with a start and fell back asleep still thinking 'bout riding...so silly...laughing at myself.

now you know, there is a good side to getting this dx and finding out the cause of your pains...it sure is better than
wandering the world in pain and wondering what's wrong; and you're young...there are all sorts of new meds out
there; you'll most probably be able to ward off mechanical damage...

and you're gonna get the best parking spaces at the mall

i'd urge you to visit the pharmacy section and read up on the things you might be trying...
there is an aspect of trial and error stuff there, but don't give up the ship.

there are a lot of nice folks here; you're in good company.
best,
aloha Ben
