For folks who have been here long enough to know me -the lovely Diane is my very feisty wonderful wife. She isn't so feisty right now and I'm anxious.(coverly saying I'm scared)
She's always sufffered from fatigue of in a rather large way. Now it seems that there is a possibility that she has some sortof heart issue. I have never seen anyone as exhausted as she has been for the past couple of months.
First they told her it was asthma. Now been told it is absolutely not asthma. Been told a couple of other things too but all wrong. Diane works in the medical field so she is the worst patient there could be and generally refuses to see any Doc's. (I am not a good role model since I don't go to often either)
Anyway after EKG . Doc ordered more tests a couple of weeks ago and Diane refused to take them. It was the girls birthday, then her (our) dog of 15 years had to be put to sleep and she was too scared to do it.
Well she can't climb the stairs of our house and almost blacked out a couple of times in recent days so she is finally frightened enough to go for the full battery of tests. HEr breathing is labored al the time. Tests begin this evening if she doesn't back out and I suspect she won't.
Last night I looked at her as she collapsed into sleep and I know fatigue from AS as most of you do but I have never seen a look like she had.
As for being AS related I suppose it isn't except to say that one of the ways I best deal with my AS is (irrationally as heck) the belief that I've fgot a deal with the universe that it can clobber me all it wants but it (the universe) may not land any sucker punches on theones I love. Impossible, I know but it gives me a feeling that in some way I control my having AS. I consent to bearing AS woes so that those I love don't have to endure any agonies. SUre it can't happen, but I still plead ot the skies to go ahead an kick my butt rather than any of the of the four lovely ladies in my life.
Diane is only 39 her family has a history of serious heart disease so of course she fears nothing but bad news. I believe the world always offers infinite possiblities so I don't guess whether the news is gona be good or bad, I just wait for the news. its just a lot easier when the news that might be bad is about you personally than about someone you lovve.
One of the reasons I rarely gripe to loved ones about my AS is that I understand the above sentiment and I figure the more normal they see me as the less anxiety I'll cause them. So if you're an ASKickers loved one I suspect sometimes we shut you out hoping its for your benefit. If that makes any sense.

Steve, I am so sorry about your wife. I pray that they will find an answer soon. It is tough when you both have problems but then again you understand so much more. We just lean on each other every day.
I just don't really know what to say except that I will keep you in my heart and prayers.

Sorry to hear Diane is suffering from fatigue... I pray the tests reveal the route cause and she can receive treatment necessary so she can keep up with the little ones once again.

Yesterday, I peeked into the site and thought that something was wrong with you or your family. Because I had not giggled at your musing for a while. Just kind of a premenonition. My prayers are with you and her at this time. Does the food she eats, affect her?

Oh, Steve:
I know this has been going on for some time, and it looks like it has not improved. This IS AS related because it is directly related to You; we are here for You even if we have to help convince Bruno to "escort" her to the hospital. Cardiac therapy is evolving rapidly (because it needs to), and she might be surprised how much it has advanced since her previous experiences.
Keep us posted, please, and if nothing but our thoughts and prayers are needed You and Diane (and the Imp Triad) have these and more,
