If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi I am planning to get into the 3 day apple fast but there is something additional going on with me in terms of medications (I started NSD 3 weeks ago with no results yet): 1) I am taking Celebrex twice a day - Do I HAVE TO cut it out? I would like to keep taking it to avoid pain. 2) I have an toe ingrown nail infection and taking Keflex twice a day for 15 days(dermatology prescribed it) to get rid of it - Is it dangerous to do apple fast while on antibiotics?. 3) I take Nexium 2 times a day for GERD - Any problems with keeping taking this? 4) I am taking Sulfasalazine 2 times a day - Any problems with keeping taking this?
Also, my wife went back to south america to visit the family for 3 months - therefore I am alone at home and I am kind of wary about other posts where people fainted with this diet - I would have nobody to pick me up!
Thanks!

Something to think about and file away for future reference:
Tea Tree Oil is an essential oil that you can put on an infection and it kills bacteria & yeasts & fungus and penetrates deeply. Mild pain killer too. I've known MANY people that have used this on their feet (among other places) with amazing results and without the side effects of antibiotics (candida) ....
Raw Garlic is a powerful antibiotic & healer as well. Maybe more. Chop raw garlic into some olive oil (or grapeseed oil, etc since olive tends to get rancid quicker) and let it sit a bit, then rub the oil onto your injury/infection. healing is very quick...we've used it for ear infections, bladder infections, swolen glands, etc..... hmmmmm, maybe I'll go rub some on my kidneys!!! thanks for helping me to remember!!!
good luck on the apple fast!

In regards to the medications, if I required them to stay out of pain/flare, I would continue to take them with the apples. You do not want to blow up into full blown flare in my opinion.
Just make sure you eat some apples with the medications so tummy/GI not so upset.
Not sure on antibiotics, I have not taken in so long. John is the expert in that regard.
Is there any reason you can not wait until antibiotics finished? This is not a race with a first place finisher.
Best to you,
Tim

If that is a fungus infection on your toe, eating apples will not be good, as all sugars feed the fungus.

Hi JCVC, if you have some time on your hands try researching the benefits of collodial silver and coconut oil. Both of these have tremendous benefits without any added side effects. Google them and read up on them.
Also, I agree with Tim, why don't you wait until you have finished your antibiotics before starting the apple fast.
Cheers, Rita

Hi, JCVC: One purpose of the apple diet is to get off the drugs so that you can begin the healing process required to decrease AS activity. I would not state that the apples will do no good at all while taking drugs, but I expect there could be some discomfort. Quote:
1) I am taking Celebrex twice a day - Do I HAVE TO cut it out? I would like to keep taking it to avoid pain. 2) I have an toe ingrown nail infection and taking Keflex twice a day for 15 days(dermatology prescribed it) to get rid of it - Is it dangerous to do apple fast while on antibiotics?. 3) I take Nexium 2 times a day for GERD - Any problems with keeping taking this? 4) I am taking Sulfasalazine 2 times a day - Any problems with keeping taking this?
1: Celebrex is probably the drug you can still take with the apples, but remember it will decrease your perception about how good the diet worked. When I was fasting, I eliminated a more powerful NSAID and could really start hurting by day four but day six or seven I knew just how well fasting worked for me.
2: I don't know about the toe infection, but I have had it before and it is rather miserable. Hope you get rid of this before starting the apples--and you should not take antibiotics while on the apples, since they also strip away the exposed side of the intestinal mucosa (while rebuilding the epithelium below it). The problem is that with the way antibiotics work, along with the apples, you could experience a major flare after the apples due to taking both. Give it a while to build up your beneficial flora before the apples. As Jan has said, AS can be indirectly caused by candidiasis and the colloidal silver Rita has mentioned can be taken internally, along with stuff like caprylic acid and garlic.
3: The Nexium (a PPI) should not be taken while on the apples; you need stomach acid to properly digest the apples. ACV can eliminate the GERD--which you should not get while on the apples, anyway, at least we hope...
4: SZ at 2000mg daily might be a bit much while on the diet. I really like this drug, but would not take it while on the apples, due to the culture clash it will present in the lower tract. BTW, I hope the SZ is enteric-coated. Might be a good time to switch over if it is not; enteric-coated is many times more effective against AS than non-coated. Depending upon your weight, you may have to 'work up' to the 2g mark in increments again, but I hope that you will consult your physician about this issue; restarting this drug can be tricky.
Good luck with the toe nail infection and especially the apple diet--it really gives a head-start to the NSD,
John
