If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Dear friends, just want to share some recent positive experiences with you. Recently I got renewed interest in uvb-light. 1 1/2 years ago I got very interested in this topic, partly because of earlier discussions here on kickas by Krishna and Zark. The thing is that during this autumn my AS seem to get out of control, NSD not helping any more. AS turned up in new places like shoulder and ancles which got swollen, and my recent CRP showed 50. I started thinking about a possible lack of vitamin D and sunshine (it's pretty dark here in Sweden these days and this summer was not very sunny at all). So I decided to go through with my year-long plan to buy a UVB-broadband lamp. With a bit of luck I managed to buy a second hand good one a week ago, and have been using it this week. With remarkable results: for the first time in many months AS is more or less completely gone, and I am sure CRP is normal again! Hopefully it will stay this way. Such an amazing change, some weeks ago I could hardly walk at all. I UVB Andreas

Hey, Andreas:
Yes, I know Krishna was a big proponent of sunshine, and he was doing quite well on his own regimen, and Zark has covered the topic of vitD extensively, also.
I'm so glad to hear that you have been having such good results, and appreciate your sharing this with the group. If you have exposure area/time/distance or any technical information, it would greatly help us. Certainly, we can't get too much vitD from such sources, but we can overdo the basic exposure to uVb and cause some burning; hope that you stay well away from that potential.
Health to You, John

Dear John, I think it is the least I can do to share my experience with kickas'ers since I have got so much inspiration from you all the last years. The sunlamp I bought is of the model Corona mini 220, which is normally used for treatment of psoriasis. It uses broadband uvb (Philips TL-12). This I believe is the best for vitamin D synthesis. http://www.solarcsystems.com/pdfs/philips_effective_light_therapy.pdfhttp://gup.ub.gu.se/gup/record/index.xsql?pubid=60597The swedish company selling these is: http://www.essha.com/In Canada, it seem solarc sells lamps like these. They also have good info on broadband uvb as well as narrowband uvb (Philips TL-01 and Corona mini 240) which is becoming the new standard for psoriasis treatment. http://www.solarcsystems.com/narrowband_uvb.htmlHowever, I believe broadband is better for vitamin D synthesis since optimal range for this seems to be 290-300nm, whereas narrowband is only 311nm. Some more: here AS is listed as affected by vitamin D http://www.lifedynamix.com/articles/Medicine/Sun_Crucial_To_Health.htmlAnother very good site is http://www.vitamindcouncil.com/I have already managed to burn myself a little, just with 2 min exposure a 40cm distance. However uvb is basically safe, unlike uva there is no risk for cancer for example. Vitamin D is the body's cancer fighter. It is using uvb-blocking sunscreen or uva-suntanning that is dangerous. Let the sun shine on all of you Andreas

Hopefully you'll find it as a round, yellow object way above your head...

Hi Zark, old friend As you noticed I have completed the circle. I remember that you kindly send me some good files of yours a year ago during my first episode of UVB interest. Of course our situations are very different, you living in sundrenched australia and I in sunstarved sweden. Actually I lived down under in Canberra 00-03 and had major problem with Crohn then. It was the first winter after I returned to Sweden that my AS first started! Anyway, I still am doing very on UVB. Since new years AS has been virtually nonexistent here. I hope it will stay this way for a while longer at least... Andreas
