If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

My sister was recently put on MTX for psoriatic arthritis. Her side effects have not been too troubling. She is taking her folic acid and staying out of the sun. Her biggest complaint is that her skin "feels like it is on fire." She will probably be switched to a biological at her next rheumy appt. but she had to go through a trial for insurance purposes. Any advice on making her skin feel better? ~Trish

Thanks Tim. She doesn't have any lesions or eruptions just pain (likely due to inhibition of keratinocyte production leaving her skin vulnerable.) I was just wondering if anyone had used anything topical that made it more tolerable. Thanks! ~trish

Hey Trish, I think for this one I would have her go to her pharmacist and see if they could recommend a topical for her discomfort. I have found that most of the time when it comes to handling the side effects of a med that a good pharmacist is much more in tune than a doc. It's sure worth a try, and its cheaper than another office visit.

tell her to STOP TAKING IT, it's poison. I won't get into it now, but if you have any questions, I'll be happy to describe the many evils of MTX for you. EVIL. EEEEEVVVVVIIIIILLLLL -Bridget

Hi, i was on it for 5-6 months. I got such a head ache that i wanted to bawl. The dr. said it does or can cause the brain to swell, but I should give it another month!!!
That headache was oging to kill me. Is it worth it? Please be careful

mtx gave me my life back. I dont' have skin problems but if I don't drink enough fluids, I get very nauseous. My rheumy said extra fluids while on this med is crucial. I was literally bedridden with RA until I started mtx. I've been on it 4 years now.

I recently started MTX with two injections so far. I have stopped drinking my one or two glasses of wine in the evening for fear it will damage my liver or make me sick. But now I have a scratchy, dry throat and not much of a voice left. Is this something that others have experienced? And about the drinking...has anyone had problems with an occassional drink? Great suggestion on drinking more water, thanks!
