because it does not contain starch. it contains lactose, maltose (those two can be a problem for people with digestion problems - like all of us seem to be)

just give it up for a week or two and see if there's any diference.
the only condition - eat the same food u ate before, do not add something new, so that u can be sure that the modifications (if there are any) are related with the lack of chocolate.

just a test.

I think a number of people here recently tested chocolate with iodine only to find it tested starchy...

Found the thread it came up in....

Some folk find they can tolerate it still, others can't...

i;ve took a look at McCance&Widdowson Composition of foods:

most branded chocolate (like kit kat, nestle, milka - i know only european brands...) contains starch.

But most of it contains also lactose, sucrose and maltose - and all of them can be problematic for someone with a bad digestion like mos AS people are.

For example:
a Mars bar contains for 100 grams:
11.1 gr. g-starch
9.7 - glucose
0.1 - fructose
43.1 - sucrose
6.8 - maltose
6.6 lactose.

the only "friendly" carbohidrates there are glucose and fructose.
so judge for yourself

well it depends on the chocolate. The one with wafers has starch in it. Pure dark chocolate, which I buy has no starch.

Hey, could you give a breakdown like that for a pure dark chocolate bar?
