swarf is such an excellent word, Alan. it describes everything to the one saying it, and nothing to innocent by-standers, so luckily I don't get in trouble for using it ....often.

Do you guys know what "swarf" is? The debris or waste from metalworking. My husband produces the stuff frequently!

Of course I swarfin well Know what it swarfin means, I was brought up on swarf, swarf and bred was i.......LOL
Actually yes but only because my first job after leaving school was in a motor engineering works Yuk...and I made swarf by a combination of crankshaft grinding mixed with cutting oil........oddly whilst it is thought that swarf is dirty oddly we would all wash our hands in used cutting oil with the metal debris, they were spotlas after a quick swarfy dunk............so there
Anyway donette do't you swarfin well put up with any swarf from anyone, especially wndy the swarf queen.........ahaaaaa

Actually, kind sir, although I'm happy with the title of queen, it's actually my husband who is the swarf king.

You can buy a product called swarfega. It is a degreaser used by mechanics. Very handy stuff, my husband always used it after working on his car (in his younger days)
