Great allegory for determination and perseverance, Jeffery. All in the battle against a plant that has no awareness, no conscious thought, but yet if not for your heroic stoicism, fought not externally, but internally, with no one else truly seeing or understanding your true struggle.... the shrub would have likely been the victor in the end

Would make an excellent script for a film

except for that part about teenagers offering to help voluntarily, no audience would ever believe THAT!

a previous neighbor cut the shrub down to about 2 feet. We thought it would never grow back to it's former glory. We prayed and prayed it would grow back. We must have prayed a little too hard. The thing grew back bigger and thicker than before.

Sounds like you have alot to do outside. I know what you mean about sense of accomplishment. I hate my shrub till it gets it's haircut, after that it becomes my work of art. I guess all the work your husband does becomes a work of Art too(I crack myself up sometimes).

I don't know where the little wrens go when I start using the trimmer but they always come back after I am done. Every year we have a wren nest in the same place in the eavestrough. The little ones are just learning to fly. Right now they are just hopping from branch to branch on the lilac bush that is right below their nest. Soon they will join the others in the big bush.

I hope you are doing well. I know you have alot on your mind these days. I am a perfectionist or should I say a recovering perfectionist. I have learned there are things more important than a perfect lawn or a clean garage. still I try to take care of my little piece of heaven and I do have to say I do a better job than most. I worry how I can keep this all going but it is really out of my hands and whatever will come will come. I guess I will have to deal with it as it comes.

As annoying as the birds can be I would miss them if they ever left. It is dark now and they are now quiet. You can hear them chirping all the way till dusk. It is usually non-stop. Funny how you can just get used to something. I think if someone played a recording of birds chirping, I would probably not hear it.
