Hi Joanne, yes, stiffness in the morning, never fun. Used to take anywhere between and hour and three hours to fully resolve (even after a hot shower). This ended for me when I started taking biologic meds (first Remicade and now Enbrel).

Foggy-head in the morning can be a result of several things. Could be med related, or it could be you aren't getting sufficient recuperative sleep. You might want to go in for a sleep study to see if there's anything other than AS that might be contributing to this.

Hugs,

Kat

I am the exception to stiffness mine starts late afternoon and progresses through the evening until I take medication before bed. I've always suffered like this which is unusual.
But I'm unusual anyway. laugh2 laugh2

Pain can make me a bit fuzzy headed, but I think the nearest I can get to what you are describing is when I have woken up having slept with my neck kinked a funny way. Then I can really get a horrible drunk hungover feeling. I am sure I have something going on in my cervical spine that presses on something it shouldnt if my neck isn't in exactly the right position. Try changing your pillows or your sleeping position and see if it makes a difference. I sleep some on one side and mostly on my back, and need different pillows in each position (a very small one when on my back).

I wake up stiff and sore. I go to bed stiff and sore. I peak for only a few hours and crash sorely every single night and wake up the same way. Some days more than others. But I'm not foggy headed. Takes me a couple hours to get moving. I call it crab walking...The spine slowly starts loosening up and I can move a bit more. But the mind is clear...the body is simply not cooperating. Spine hasnt cooperated for over 20 years now! eyes
