Been here a couple of days now. Must say it's much better then I anticipated. British air is great to travel on and only one stop between Prague was nice. The driver was ten minutes late but I'm so glad I paid for it. It's about 1.5 hours from the airport to jachymov, I would not have wanted to navigate that by bus.

The radium palace is just that: a palace. It pretty cool, very nice the way they updated it. I have very fast free wifi on my iPad in the lobby. I spend quite a bit of time there. The room is very spacious the only thing I don't like is the bed is quite firm. Being a bit thinner with some inflammation makes it less then ideal.

The food. One of my biggest concerns. Plus with me being on a gluten free diet. Better then expected. They have gluten free bread and supper last night was actually pretty good. A pork chop in some sort of mild curry sauce with potatoes. Wow, I really liked it. You could really feel the German influence here being so close. I'm expected to sit in the same place for all my meals. They are ready with my bread and give me a menu to fill out every morning for my supper. This place is highly organized and efficient. I did bring my own deserts which was very wise. I have a small fridge.

The treatments. First morning I saw the nurse and doctor. It seems like such a formality since I know my treatment will be radon baths. I took the radon bath only option instead of all the classes. They seem lame and I do a pretty intense yoga workout in my room. Plus I still will be getting some water massages, a pearl and CO2 bath. Will let you know what these are.
As for the radon baths pretty straight forward. Each room is private. I showed up with my robe they provide with board shorts on underneath. Nope. Off with the shorts said the lady. And she didn't leave the room when I stripped down. In fact she kept staring. When I got in the bath she went through the smalL swing door and I heard her say to the German lady "sexy man". It was a bit strange considering that's the only English I could make out in the conversation.
I did do a Thai massage in the hotel next door , I paid extra for it, around 40. It was pretty lame compared to ones I get back home.
So far so good. Better then expected. Still trying to reset my internal clock.

Sounds like you are having an 'interesting' experience...You do realise that you are *never going to live this down now don't you? <ROL> OK, now that you've already set the place alight, better be a 'good' boy...

Oh dear, poor you. How embarrassing. I 'loathe' stripping down - in fact, I always refuse. NOT. Bang.

Otherwise, food and generally speaking, sounds to be OK. Shame about the feeble massage though. Hmmmmm Await your further input.

Ha ha!! If it were me she would have gone in the next room and said,

"blah blah blah (insert words I don't understand) .........saggy boobs,"

so I'm thinking "sexy man" is a pretty good thing!!!!

Oyyyyyy, I hate being naked. What a pervert, she totally just wanted to see you naked, it probably has nothing to do with treatment!! Free entertainment baby!!!

Just kidding, I'm pretty sure it's necessary, that doesn't make it any less gross though!!! floor

Good for you for getting there! It's on my list, but it's a very long list! smile

Is there a website for this place? It sounds like HEAVEN! It is a bit unsettling how the attendants don't leave the room in Europe while clients are undressing. I feel like such a prudish American when I'm over in Norway getting massage or acupuncture. Even so, I hope you enjoy the place and experience massive healing!

To be honest I don't mind being naked in front of strange women. It's just something you don't experience in the states unless your about to Have sex.

Walked around the town today. It nice and overcast and cold. What a change from Arizona. I noticed almost all the small stores had signs advertising cigarettes or alcohol. I had asked the guy at the font desk if the hotel had a small store to buy a few items. He spoke pretty decent English and said I needed to go to an ATN at hotel curie, withdrawal money and go to the small stores owned by the "slant eyed people" and he used his fingers to make his eyes look Vietnamese. I did just that and went to an ATM but I found a gas station that had a white person in it and they would haven took my debit card. On the way back I noticed what looked like a store in front of the lobby of my hotel. Sure enough I went in and it had everything I would have needed. Gee I wound if the guy knew he had a store where he worked.
Currently I'm in the lobby on my iPad surrounded by a lot of German people over 60 drinking and having a good time. I'm like a leaper around here!
So far vie enjoyed this rather exotic experience much more then I would have thought.

Donnette,
Have you been to the Hot Springs near Warm Lake, North of McCall?
What I loved about Idaho was that where ever I went, hunting fishing, or at Church camp, there was a hot springs. Yea, once in a while I did have to duck a fence or jump... but it was so much fun. I did pay a few times when I went in for mail, since they were right beside the road.
Then jump in the cold mountain water the numbness was tremendous!!
But jachymov sounds really great too!

-Finnari:That would be a great epitaph, "Never minded being naked in front of strange women."

You MUST be from AZ if you you're thinking cold and overcast is NICE!!! Just two states north of you and I'm jones-ing to see my tulips begin to emerge.

Too funny about the store being so close. So did they accept your debit card there? Do the ATM's spit out the local currency? Once I bought something on the tiny island of Roatan and figured it would cost me about $12 or so. After the currency exchange it came back on my bank statement for 17 cents. Now that's a bargain!!

Glad you are enjoying yourself! That should aid in the healing process!

-Lon: Yes I watched a PBS special on just how much geothermal water we have underground here in Idaho, I wonder if there is a map of it. I'd love to pipe some into my bathtub!!! My girlfriend grew up in Lava Hot Springs and she had a special faucet into her tub that piped in that lovely hot steamy mineral water. Lava's water does not have a smell. Soda Spring's water smells like rotten eggs though! We tasted the soda water once though, very cool and naturally bubbly....awesome.

Glad to hear you've had so many good times in good ol' iDaHo!!!! Take Care, friend.

Gaseous dry carbonic bath (CO2)
It is applied to the whole body or just partially (to extremities). The patient´s body (or only extremities) is closed into a special plastic bag, which is then filled with ca. 125 l of carbon dioxide, of which about 2 l are absorbed through the skin surface. The medium used is 95-100% - carbon dioxide. The warmth gathered in the closed space of the plastic bag results in the constant moistening of carbon dioxide.
Effects:increased hyperemia of the body organs, brain and muscle tissue, caused by blood vessels extension (including capillaries). This can have a positive influence on flow properties of blood, improves coronary hyperemia of myocard and related improvement of heart activity. It can also lower the blood pressure and improve hyperemia of extremities and cause decrease in edema.
Other effects: increased elasticity of erythrocytes, increased production of cell glycogen, positive influence on cirsoid complications, positive influence on the skin in cellulite, hyperpigmentation, in creation of old-age naevi, improved healing of defects, decubitus, burns, scar softening and improved healing of the skin
This procedure needs comfort and it can be accompanied by relaxation music.
Indication:
This procedure is suitable for all groups of patients, especially for those with heart and blood-vessel diseases, with vascular diseases of the brain, for those suffering from hypertensia, varicose veins, vascular complications of diabetes, osteoporosis, those with spinal diseases, but also for patients with after-surgery, after-injury or rheumatic diseases of the locomotary apparatus. The gas stimulates the production of testosterone and estradiol, that is why it is sometimes used for improving sexual functions in men and for reducing climacteric problems in women.
Duration: 40 minutes

OK - so in this case, you get cooked, by the sound of things - but it will be good for your "vigour" in case you meet any *strange women* that you fancy!

I also read about the "underwater massage" - sounds as if that's when the local physio gets to perve on the "sexy man"! clap

If it all gets out of hand, you can always have one of the Scotch douches! ouch! eek

You can also be irradiated and all sorts of rather dangerous sounding "treatments"...

Have fun Ari - and we expect a daily diary from that super fast Wifi in the foyer!
