If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I took my first dose earlier tonight. 7.5 mg worth and I all of a sudden went from random periphial flare to full on crippled body. It is hurting bad to even type this. All my joints all over my body have swollen it feels and I am in extreme pain. Is this normal in experience? A quick good showed one or two other people reporting it but figured I would check with you guys

Hi Bradon, Actually Methotrexate is very helpful for pain control in AS but may have stomach upset, diarrhoea so need to take Tab. folic acid. I didnot have symptoms as mentioned by you.

Hi Brandon,
I do not think MTX can cause any flare. It may be just a coicidence. JAY

I don't know Brandon but with what you describe I would say it doesn't agree with you we are all different on what we can and cant take.

All I know is I got to where I couldn't stand on my own. my wwife had to help me. I spent half the night crying my joints hurt so bad. They are still sore today and hurting but no where near last nights situation so far. I am hoping it gets better. I seem to be a odd ball case with these meds anyways.

Humira used to have a similar side effect when I took those shots. It gave me incredible bouts of pain for a day or two and then died down. Enbrel didn't cause this. Now metho seems to be causing it. I go to my rheumy thursday so we will see

My experience, Brandon, was that 7.5 mg had no effect on me at all. It took months for mtx to begin to work and at much higher doses. However, it also didn't cause me any worsening of my pain.

Thats what I read normally happens. My face and head feels like it is full of liquid fire this morning. Very similar to the feeling of the humira reactions I had. I know they are two different meds but I am not feeling it after the first dose.We will see how dose #2 does next week I guess. It is another 7.5 and then it goes to 15 for the 3rd and so on

Don't forget to the folic acid on all days except the day you take mtx. If you take them the same day, the folate negates the effect of the mtx. I never had a problem with mtx like you've had, it just started to help after a month or so. Now I know it's working because I lose ground if I have to stop for 2 weeks to take antibiotics for infection. I took 7.5 for a week, then 15 mg for the rest of the time. Hope you are feeling better soon. It almost has to be a new flare, unrelated to mtx.
