I swam 1,150 yds today in about 40 minutes. I was slow and learned that the short course really is worse on my spine with the added turns. Good info. Tomorrow I'm going when the long course is open.

glad you figured that one out. sometimes things are subtle and it takes a while to nail it down. like before the flector patch i realized climbing stairs was making my SI worse, stopped the stairs and then it was more tolerable.

today, walked 1 mile, 20 minutes, no thunder tonight, LOL! but i did almost step on a baby bird in the grass, think we scared one another equally! he must have just fledged as when i walked near him, he flew up to a low branch on a tree, and momma catbird gave out her "not happy" warning call!

I ran 12.2 miles today. It was a hard run, I think I was dehydrated. It took 2 hours and 28 minutes. I walked over a mile. Thought about cutting it short, but decided to tough it out. I didn't take water with me, and the first park I ran to had the water turned off.

walked 2 miles, 40 minutes with hubby in the field across the street. finally stopped being so rainy, mud dried up, so can finally walk back there, so nice and peaceful. their growing some kind of grain crop, so we should have "fields of gold" again this summer smile on our walk, a killdeer flew by, heard a bullfrog in the pond, saw two deer jumping through the brush to get away, and lots of red winged black bird activity. smile

Good job! clap We drove on I-70 yesterday, and between Fruita and Grand Jct we were literally driving in the middle of the Colorado river. So far the riverside communities are okay, but just by a hair. whistle

On the bike machine did 20km in 30.32mins, on the treadmill did 4km in 35mins (1km walking) and in the pool did 750metres in 20mins today.
I am thinking (very much in the theoretical stage) that I should try some form of triathlon to make me a bit more competitive. My big worry is the running as the other two at the moment are going quite nicely I reckon.

Erica, as for short course and long course I presume you mean 25 metres and 50 metres pools. I too find it more taxing on my back to swim in the 25 metre pool but since for various reasons I end up in the 25 and not the 50 metre pool sometimes, my remedy is to turn that little bit slower and steadier and kick off with less force because lets face it I am doing exactly double the amount of turns.

Hi TEAM, I have exciting news ~~~ well, exciting for me anyway. Today I decided to try swimming with fins again to see if my sacrum and tailbone could handle the torque. And all went well. rainbow It's so cool, because now I can swim my regular laps and then when my muscles are warmed up, I can use the swim fins to strengthen my groin and lower back muscles. It might not bear out, but it seems like if my groin and lower back muscles are stronger I might be able to hike and ride bikes again someday.... maybe.

Today I swam 1,100 meters.

Go TEAM! clap

Managed to walk both days over the weekend again - 2 1/2 miles each day taking about 40 minutes each time. It's getting a bit easier, especially the steep hill that I hit about half way round the route.
