If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

This past weekend I went to the Getty Villa and met up with some friends that I have not seen in years. I managed to make through the day despite the fact that I had a flare going and horrible spasms going up my leg all the way through my back. The day wore me out and made my flare even worse. I have an appointment with the pain specialist and Rheumy tomorrow but I don't want to have to do another toradol injection. I am not able to take oral anti-inflammatory or NSAIDs so when I flare it is my only option. Hopefully I will start Enbrel next month, but I hate flaring and feeling like the only thing I can do is lather myself in icy hot and lie flat to help minimize the pain. It is so bad that I can hardly walk. It is so frustrating and really makes me feel useless. Sigh...I really hope that Enbrel makes a difference I can't go on living like this...as it feels like I am not living at all.
Sorry, for the sad comments just needed to get out the frustration!!!
Thanks, Cubsgirlfan

Does anyone else feel sick to their stomach when they are having a flare?

i feel like i'm starting to flare. i feel icky like i have the flu or something. GI distress even though things are coming out ok, but my stomach feels icky. my SI joint is flared enough that my right back is in just moderate spasm (hard and stiff muscles but not the vice grip kind that make one scream at least). i'm currently debating if i should see if it passes or if i should try the prednisone and see if it nips it in the bud. that, until we start another drug, was the plan my rheumy and i came up with. i just don't want to waste it on a little flare. or what happens if 6 days after the dose pack, i'm still flaring, but worse? all i can offer is maybe trying pred to see if it squelches it, that's what i'm thinking of doing. feel better soon.

Sue22 I hope you feel better soon! I unfortunately can not take oral steroids because I am a gastric bypass patient so when I flare really bad I can only to the shot or nothing. I hope both our flares end soon!!

Sorry to hear that Cubsfangirl,
Hope you are feeling better soon and also get some options for the pain.
I battled intestinal issues for quite a while.. not fun.
Hang in there.

I am so sorry that you had a big day planned and just had to suffer through it. I had the same kind of day and I feel your emotional pain. You look forward to having special outing's and then a flare just makes it miserable. I am glad you got your frustration out. I got denied for Humira and I am in appeal's now.

Try fasting for a bit. Only drinking water for a while, no food. By a while I mean as long as you can stand it. It always helps me. By about 16 hours I start really feeling better.
You can attribute it to the no starch diet or klebsiella theory or not. People who eat very little food and are slightly hungry all the time actually live longer than someone who is well fed a typical western diet. I don't know the science behind it but when I just eat a couple of bites to keep the nausea/hunger down, but stay hungry throughout the day, I really feel better.
Hope you kick this flare soon!
