I just got over a bout with iritis. I was given a new eye drop medicine that the eye doctor (cant spell) said that he thought would work better than the traditional prednisolone eye drops (pred forte and generics). The new eye drop medicine was called Durezol. It is an altered form of prednisolone they (scientists, evil drug companies) added about four parts to the molecule.
Any way it really worked great for me.
I know many other people here have iritis also so I just thought I would mention this.

Ahhh ... Durezol! Last year about this time I had one of my worst iritis flares to date. My regular opthamologist was going on a medical leave for a bit the week after it started, so she referred me to a colleague who also specilizes in iritis. He put me on Durezol and it worked like magic ... Unfortunately, I'm also a steroid responder. My pressure shot up and stayed elevated for several months. It was back in normal range by the 5 month check up though. My glaucoma doc was glad to see the irits get under control of course, but he warned me that Durezol had 6 times the concentration of steroid in it than the other drops. I probably won't use it again now that I know how my pressure reacts to it, but it did work exceptionally well!

Well sounds like a good drug might just be trying it as I think I have another case of iritis sadly...usually do the pred forte but this might be worth a try thanks!

Thank's for the info Majest. It's nice to have an arsenal of things to try. What help's one might not help another but it is worth a try.

Angelmom, sorry you are going through another bout. Hang in there.

I alway's have low grade inflammation or just plain old active Iritis. It flare's every afternoon regardless and my eye's drive me crazy all night. I dialate them about every 4-5 day's as that is about how long my dilation drop's last. I see the eye Dr. every month and she is trying me on Durusel and I have to say, I like them. They are not flaring at night now. I use them twice a day for 10 day's and then will drop to 1 drop a day for awhile. They sting a bit after I put them in but compared to the Lotomax she put's me on when I have very active Iritis, they don't hurt all day and night!!!! I am so glad that Majest suggested them. Thank's

Thanks for the info. My left eye has been red for the last two days and kind of sensitive to bright light and i think i am welcoming iritis for the first time ( diagnosed with AS 2 years ago at age 26) I will bring this up to doc when i go see one.
