hi everyone

I have recently began seeing a naturopath. I Google searched A.S, naturopath and found one who also suffers from A.S. she clammed she could help. I figured it would be worth a try. honestly I would try anything that could help.

my first appointment I was very happy with her. she explained how she has stooped her A.s threw diet. She drew some blood to be sent off for testing. the lab tests your blood on a variety of food to see what reacts badly with your blood. 6 weeks later I received the results. I was very surprised at some of the foods I was allergic to. for example dairy, eggs, soy, honey and wheat. those are just a few from a long list. the DR designed a diet plan around the foods. after a few days I could feel a large improvement, better then when I was doing the NSD. its still to early but I am very happy with the results so far.

Has anyone out there seen a naturopath or have tried something like this? if you have any questions I would be happy to answer them.

thanks

sounds like a similar route that i've taken, in addition to my more mainstream doctors.

i too had the same testing. came back only very high for dairy / casein. and low for eggs. and that was it. so i'm off the dairy and eggs. haven't noticed a dramatic effect, but do think no dairy has at least helped my gastritis. and i do feel better between flares, but think the probiotics discussed below and the supplements and the LDN and the chiro, and the exercise all contribute.

additionally she did stool sample testing. i had no lactobacilli so i'm now on probiotics (lactoflamX and culturelle and align for good measure though i tested ok for the bifobacterium). these have helped my GI issues considerably.

my rheumy suspects that i still flare due to allergies other than just food and that is my next avenue to explore.

my rheumy and GI doc are both good guys, thinking both inside and outside the traditional western medicine box. the naturpath seems to rely too much on her metagenics supplements the same way some doctors rely solely on pharmaceutical drugs, while other doctors seem to shun her approach. but the rheumy and GI doc are open minded, so between them all, i just try to do what they all think is a good idea and try to avoid the controversial things. its nice having a variety of views.

Spondyloarthropathy, HLAB27 negative
Humira (still methylprednisone for flares, just not as often. Aleve if needed, rarely.)
LDN/zanaflex/flector patches over SI/ice
vits C, D. probiotics. hyaluronic acid. CoQ, Mg, Ca, K.
chiro
walk, bike
no dairy (casein sensitivity), limited eggs, limited yeast (bread)

I saw a Naturopath around a year ago. My IgA/IgG reactive foods were very high with asparagus and sugar cane and high with amaranth, banana and mushrooms. Needless to say l avoid these foods along with doing a strict NSD. I'm happy to say I'm still drug free since Dec. 8/11. My Naturopath also said l should be careful with pineapple as well. I would like to be tested again and see if anything has changed.
