If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi, I just have to ask, does anybody here feel cold all the time as a result of AS. I am cold all the time no matter what the weather. It is embarrassing to be wrapped up when everybody else is warm. The only time I feel warm is when I am in a tropical climate at over 30 degrees celsius but given the fact that I live in Ireland, I am always cold. i have said this to my rheumy but he says its nothing to do with AS and passes it off as no big deal. i know its AS related as when I get a flare, it gets much worse. When I meet people they always comment on shaking my hand, that my hands are frozen but the thing that baffles me the most, is that while I am cold, I sweat non stop...does anybody else have this symptom and feel it is AS related and is there anything that can be done?? any comments would be appreciated! India.

I always feel cold when I am flaring. My AS has been really bad lately and I have had terrible fatigue along with feeling cold. The last few days, I spend most of my time huddled under a heated electric throw, sitting in my recliner reading and sleeping.

Yeah I've felt cold a lot recently when nobody else has! I don't have an official AS diagnosis though xxx

Hello India,
I had neoropathy symptoms for several months with AS... this can be side effect of AS. I felt cold often and also had tingling sensations in hands/feet.
Have also been there with the sweats... another side effect of AS when AS is active.
Take care,
Tim

Donna, you just described exactly how I am feeling the last while too! Are you taking any meds?

Hi india, i'm also living in Ireland and although I haven't been confirmed for AS i'm pretty confident I have it. I constantly have at least 3 layers on and maybe a hoodie on over everything if it's extra cold. I used to switch between freezing to hot sweats before, really annoying. Doesn't happen so much anymore, just mostly cold now. Ever get sleep paralysis in the arm on top of your body rather than the one you're leaning on? Usually happens if I fall asleep on a couch.

No diagnosis, but yes, always cold, and then cold sweats on top of it.
And yes, Ark, I get a buzzy numb upper arm too - I have decided that it is definitely coming from my neck - when I sleep on my side it is very easy for my neck to get slightly out of alignment (if pillow isn't quite high enough) to kink my neck enough to pinch off one or more of the arm nerves (C6-C8). I can tell which vertebrae it is from whether its my middle fingers, or little, or thumb side. Google a dermatome map to see roughly which nerves feed which surface areas of your body.

I am cold most of the time too but especially during a flare. I live with my heating pad through most of the year. I sweat too from some med's.
Everyone of my Dr.s has acknowledged that the cold wet weather here and the change in barometric pressure is not good for anyone with A.S. Got told that again today.
Low thyroid could cause coldness too.

was going to mention thyroid as well. its an easy thing to have tested. at the least, good to rule it out.
