The many times I have had uveitis my regime was always take the drops every hour for about half a day (usually from when I saw the ophthalmologist for the rest of that day and then they were tapered to something like 8 a day for 5 to 7 days and so on so I would usually be taking them for something like 5 weeks in total.

NSD almost all the way
No dairy hard cheeses occasionally and homemade ghee
Still trying to work out what makes me tick and what makes me drop

I agree Brad. I just hated to question a dr's treatment. I have many times used them every 10 min the first day when it was severe and then to every 30 min. then every hour and very slowly tapering. I suppose it depends on the severity.

I have even done a one drop daily for a long time at the end of a taper.

Hi Jenny May, I'm glad to hear you got in and are under treatment now. I agree that the course of treatment seems a little short, and I'm surprised that you weren't given a dilation drop as well, as I've never been without one when experiencing iritis, but it may be that your case was caught early enough that it wasn't necessary.

Follow the course of treatment and the timing of drops exactly. One of the things that can happen is that you come off the drops too quickly, then the iritis rebounds. So, if you start feeling similar symptoms, get in to see the opthie again, ASAP.

I'm so glad you're feeling better. This place is awesome.

Warm hugs,

Kat

Brad,
I do 3 days (today's the last day) of 8 drops. Tomo I drop to 6 drops for 3 days. Then 4 drops a day until gone. But, my PA- who is AMAZING- already had me on oral prednisone 20 mg a day until I follow up with her to change things up! The ophthalmologist I saw is great! He refilled the drops in case this happens on a weekend again. I'm rechecking with the ophthalmologist first thing in the morning and probably again next week. He'll adjust for more or different tapering tomo if needed.

Everyone,
The important thing is, you're ALL looking our for me! Thank you! There is a large shortage of people who understand how this disease works to make us stronger than everyone else! It's awesome that you all are looking out for me! You understand what I need, what we need. Please don't stop surfing these pages! Please tell me if I can EVER do the same for you!!!

With all my heart, thank you!
Jenny

*I think the oral prednisone is the kicker here? I believe that is cause for the conservative nature if the drop application. Thoughts?

Thanks Jan, BTW! My kids thank you for your positive support! I'm a single momma and ornery as... Well, ornery as hell! I'll upload pics as soon as I can so we can all laugh! My ice pack + eye patch = eyecepatch. I wore it and read all weekend and every night this week. I learned that if you don't move the eye you decrease the symptoms. And, of course, ice is an anti-inflammatory tool! It was an epic setup! Not to mention the heating pad going from neck to ribs to SI!

Hugs JennyMay. Thinking of you. The oral Pred is probably helping. Have a great weekend.

That would be correct, Jenny. When I get uveitis, I never take the oral prednisone anymore, as it's just not a good drug for me anymore. Your overall treatment plan sounds just fine, and I am glad to hear you have a medical team treating your eye that communicates well and that you trust, which is always important. I hope the eye is healing well and you are feeling good. Thanks for the update.

Thank you, Possi!

Brad,

Oral prednisone... Gives me the creeps! I dunno that it's ever good, even if it helps!

Thanks for your thoughts and time!

Jenny
