If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

My daughter has been going for about a year now, and we're down to a treatment every other week (alternating with acupuncture) to help with her inflammation and pain level. It helps (reduced her daily pain level about 2 points), but I'm curious if anyone else using it gets more relief from additional treatments, home treatments, or a greater length of treatment time?

Can you explain (post a link) as to this "laser therapy"?
I'm curious about this. What kind of "laser" is it?
What kind of doctor does it for her?

Do you mean the "cold laser" therapy? I have had a lot of those without much in the way of results. I am curious if there is something else.
Thanks.

I'm curious too. I would guess this therapy is either an infrared laser.. or an infrared LED array (ie. not a laser).
what I can eat on the diet (click here) -- my blog -- contact me (PM is broken) "Some men, in truth, live that they may eat, as the irrational creatures, 'whose life is their belly, and nothing else.' But the Instructor enjoins us to eat that we may live." -- Clement of Alexandria (about 200 AD)

Yes, Possi, it is also referred to as a cold laser, or infrared. The treatment is overseen by a DO as part of a pain clinic. Since she's a bit too young to look forward to starting down the path of narcotics for pain, we try everything possible that won't have any side effects to help.
I know the frequency of the light matters, depending on what is being treated. The idea is that the laser has been proven to help with inflammation, stimulating cell repair on the mitochondrial level, and acts as an antimicrobial (which is what interested me the most, since I've been told the laser penetrates about 6" into the soft tissue of the body). So maybe on the bacteria front, it's killing some kleb...but that's just a hope on my part.
I can tell when she hasn't had her treatment. Her pain levels go up, and energy levels go down. My hope was that someone else may be trying this so I could compare notes with how often they go, and if it helps them more. Possi, how long did you go, and how often? About how long were the treatments, and do you happen to know what frequency they used? I'm also assuming they did them on your lower back, like they do for my daughter, but they had a hand held unit they could use at the same time on her hands or ankles when they were flaring.

Many pathogens are surprisingly sensitive to even modest temperature changes

For me Acupuncture was less effective and doing accupressure was more beneficial. Please try accupressure for your daughter too.And also if you can encourage her to do yoga Asans & pranayams learning from good yoga instructor,I'm sure her pain level will be reduced..........

Hi Karen, I did my first low laser treatment yesterday, and it was amazing! Saw a random commercial on TV for a free treatment and assessment at the NW Pain Institute, in Vancouver, WA. http://www.360painrelief.com/treatment.phpI went really skeptical, barely expecting anything, and was really blown away. The difference before and after was AMAZING. I feel like this is the first alternative therapy (other than diet, as NSD diet is a life saver) that really got down DEEP. I am hopeful this is what is going to help me revitalize the damage done in my spine, and jump start the healing in my spine. The basic idea is the lasers get the blood flowing to the area again and stimulate healing. I suffer from kyphosis, osteopenia, fusions, 15 years of AS damage, etc, and while a couple of years of NSD has gotten my daily inflammation to basically go away, and my daily pain is around zero to 1 or 2 (2 or 3 after a long day catering), I am thrilled as I felt the laser therapy really got in there and broke up the tension and pressure in my spine. Up until now, it has felt like my spine has had a mind of its own, but after this first treatment I am so ecstatic and elated, I believe down to my core this is the best treatment for me, in addition to a very low starch diet, that is mostly raw/vegan. I am also super excited that my medical insurance covers this, as it is basically billed as chiropractic and PT. Can't wait to go back for another treatment next week! NOTE: I don't think the treatment would have been nearly as effective if I were not already almost entirely free of inflammation after a couple years on this diet. I would assume that if someone was in chronic pain and flaring, this treatment might not as be as effective, as full on "active" AS is a nasty, as we all know. But for me, I am at a place with diet where I have this disease control, and I just need help to stimulate healing in areas where damage was done years ago. xo
I'm now a KICK AS (and Kick IBD) success story!! After going low starch Paleo to heal my gut, I can now eat nearly all starches, grains & foods without inflammation, flare-ups, or pain. I used a modified SCD diet approach (minus dairy! plus cacao ♥). Cheers to healing & thriving again! I blog at http://www.forestandfauna.com/about/

Hi bettyrawker,
Did you take laser treatment further. How many occasions you have taken and what is the effect.
