Don't know what affect any of this will have in the long run, but my daughter had bloodwork done recently that showed some significant changes. We've been low starch for about a year now, and while her pain level still isn't down to 0, some tests came back "better" than they had in the previous two years worth of testing.

Urine pH - went from a low of 5.6 to 7...so, very acidic to neutral
Alkaline phosphatase (blood)- went from very low to in the normal range
Bun/Creatine ratio - went from being low to normal
Vitamin D - went from a low of 17 to 26...without her being able to take supplements for several weeks due to stomach issues.

So, if nothing else I am able to show her she is doing good things for her overall health, and we're a encouraged it may have a long term impact for her.

Sounds good!

AS symptoms started 1991. Official dx in 2006 with HLA-B27+, fused SIJ, bone spurs in back, extreme rib/hip pain, and other family with SpA. Started Enbrel in 2006 with good results, but stopped in 2010 due to nerve damage (MS) from it. Getting good results with no-starch diet since 2011.
