If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi Angie, If you are scared of visiting the dentist. Check out a University that has a dental school in your area. The University of Washington in Seattle has a Dental Fears Research Clinic. So am wondering if other Universities would also have them. The one at UW is great. They even have a dental psychologist to help you through the visits. He will even sit and hold your hand if you want him to. And believe it or not... NO PAIN!! none at all. They give you this gel and clear bandages. You put the gel on your inner elbow and the back of you hand, then cover with the bandages. (you do this one hour before your appt) Then they put an IV in....doesn't hurt because of the gel. And put you into LA LA land. You can still hear the dentist, but they do all the work you need done in one visit (unless there is too much work, then they split it up) And they wake you up when you are done. It is awsome. I also was terrified to go to the dentist because of a horrible experience as a child. Now it doesn't bother me at all to go. Hope this helps. Take care, Pam My boys, Noah & Isaiah

Wow Pam !! That sounds AWESOME !! I had three teeth pulled out at once when I was about 11-12 years old, and it was soooooooooooo painful. The dentist gave me a couple of shots..but I still had tremendous pain and lots of bleeding afterwards. I still remember that nasty taste in my mouth.... I went to a TMJ specialist last year..but all he did was poke around and then send me to get a mold for my mouth to try out first before they would consider any type of surgery..eeeekkkk...I ran like the wind!! I'll have to flip thru the yellow pages....that's a great idea..I think Arthur mentioned something similar ot me once before...but I was in "denial" Hugs to ya]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]] Toodles! Hi Charles. I get the real sharp pain, but I dont get any dizziness. I do get sharp pain in the same side..on my temple when it happens. It hurts real bad, but is gone soon after. Never sure where it came from. When they did a bone scan a year ago...they were concerned about my left shpenoid bone in my left temple because it was inflammed..but they could not figure out what in the world was causing it. My old Rheumy said it could have been the spondlorpathy, but wasnt sure. Take care... Toodles! Angie

Further recollection has reminded me of a long sequence of sharp ear pains, but it is unlikely th e source of your discomfort. Nuns. Four years of grammar school and them penguins yanking full throtle at my ears for any misdeed.     stevec-they also serve who stand and wait

I see you went thru the same trauma Art did... Art now has arthritis in his poor hands..and I know it's due to the the little nuns aka penguins...who would swat his hand full force with a ruler...at any idea he had. He said he gave up when they caught him reading 'the exorcist" and swore he'd burn in hell. Fortunately for me....I didnt have any nuns at my "heels" Take care... Toodles! Angie

Last spring I thought I had a bout of TMJ, got so painful I was sleeping on a heating pad. Finally went to the doc and found out I had a raging ear infection. Symptoms were the same, how was I supposed to know???? I blame every ache and agony in my body on AS, which sometimes can be a mistake. Cheryl Dogs love it when you leave your clothes on the floor

I also have child issues when it comes to dentists although I have to say I haven't really been hurt by one in so long I can't remember when was the last time - - but still the fear factor is there. I insist on being pumped so full of novacaine my eyeballs are numb Sounds like it could be TMJ, when I get it my ear area feels a whole lot worse than my jaw - - except of course it hurts to chew on that side and also to open my mouth very wide - - but when I do chew I feel it up by the "hinge" of my jaw - - near my ear. I'm not so crazy about those neurology types that stick needles in my nerve roots either And to think I'm scared of the dentist but go placidly to the torture if it's anything else. Cheryl Dogs love it when you leave your clothes on the floor

For what its worth...
I had very tender cartlage just above my left earlobe for years well actually as the AS crept into my neck years ago. I couldn't hold the phone to my ear. It would come and go. I had a tremendous flare under my skull about three years ago causing all kinds of problems...headaches, eye pain, teeth pain (had three pulled), burning on my forehead like the skin was being pealed away. And oh yeah, ear pain. Felt like a needle was being pushed through my ear drum. Things have sort of settled down this past years (also help with meds). I still have these symptoms but at a lesser dulled out fashion.
Do you have any AS neck involvement? If you do, you could have the starting symptoms I had or it could be (exasberating?) your TMJ. One other thing I remember about the ear thing... I would also have a fullness feeling in my ear like I'm all stuffed up like a cold and the next day nothing.
God I love this disease.
