Just back from the foot doc, thought he was just going to check the fit of my new orthodics and send me on my way. Silly me. It was off with the shoes and socks and check out the feet. My ankle got kinda messed up with tramping all over the theme parks last week, and it was still swollen and before I could say I wasn't that kind of a girl he had whipped out his syringe and bingo! Had a shot of pred Actually he did spray it with that stuff that freezes the area first, and it didn't hurt near as much as the one I had in my palm last spring, and my ankle does feel better and this should reduce the swelling. But the foot is truly messed up, that's the one that's fused, and it may come down to surgery as my only option to regain some mobility. It's always somethin' with this strange disease

Cheryl,
I had a shot in my bursa (hip) a few months ago. The first day I slept but boy did I feel good for the next few - it's been down hill from there.
Hope yours gives you a bit less pain and youre up and about soon.
Take care and keep smiling,
Rose

HI,
Here's one that will knock you socks off. I had a terrible cold or alergy. I had it for about a month. I had come down to visit my mother in the hospital and I told her that I had taken almost everything I could think off for my cold. She then told me to see her doctor, that he might recommend something. Well, being that he was in the hospital he took me in. Ask me what the problem was and I told him. He then asked me if I wanted quick relief or slow relief. I told him quick relief since I had it for a month and tried everything. The doctor said ok, sit on the chair. He then said tilt you head back. So, I did. I held it there while he was doing something. I couldnt see him. Next thing I felt was a shot(needle) going up my nostril. OUCH!!!!!. Then he said now the other nostril....DOUBLE OUCH!!!!. I think he was a quack-doc.....and No it didn't help my alergies.....But, I hope your visit with your doctos helps with your pain. God Bless you and Merry Christmas...

Dan,

I sometimes get a shot of cortisone when my allergies are bad, but just in my arm!!! NEVER up the nose! And my joints always feel better after the shots too . . . I can't imagine how BAD that must have felt! Ugghhh!

Well, I could have run for it, but the relief is so wonderful this morning I want to send him a thank you note. My ankle has been bad since the beginning of symptoms, the first joint to bite the dust, and I am so tired of hobbling! I did ask him if this meant I could dance again - - and he told me what my sister always tells me, "Hey, if you couldn't dance before you can't dance now" I've had shots into my palm before and that always makes a huge difference, straightens out my fingers and usually lasts about a year. This time who knows? But I'm going on a cruise (yea!) in January and if all goes well perhaps Mr. Cane can stay in the closet - - even if it means getting another shot right before the cruise. The thing about the ankle is it puts my gait off which causes muscle spasms in my lower back, because on Arava the inflammation is now under control but the pain is still there if I overdo stuff, and that, according to rheumy and foot doctor, is because I walk "funny." Interesting experiment, we'll see how it goes.

Well, so far so good, this morning was bliss, no ankle pain! It's when it swells it begins to hurt, sort of like walking on a sprained ankle. Oddly enough, the damage isn't to the ankle,. it's to the foot, all the little bones are fused between the heel and ankle. There are no guarantees on how long I will have relief but even feeling good this morning is worth the momentary (and mostly mental pain of the shot.
