Very good words and I couldn't agree more. I just do have to say that one of the lines from Steel Magnolias was " If you haven't got something nice to say about someone, then come sit by me." Very funny in a movie but really...in real life? I don't think so. Also if you don't want the truth about something just don't ask because really that does give someone the freedom to say anything they want doesn't it? Especially true in a drama club. I only ask people's opinion when I really want the truth and I only ask certain people that know how to word things very carefully so as not to kill me off entirely. Not a bad way to live actually. And if someone offers an opinion without being asked for one then say..."I don't recall asking for your opinion". I have never done that since I am too chicken to be that harsh ( although people are quite free to hurt my feelings as much as they would like) but it is a nice thought don't ya think?
That's why the "credo" from Bambi works so well. It really applies for all occasions and is the only way to live and be able to live with yourself.
