Hi all,

I am still in shock as I am writing this. I went to the Neurologist today to follow up on the Clonus. He had given me medication to help and it has. While we were there talking to him he mentioned the TWO strokes. I yelled, "TWO STROKES?!!?!". Looked over at my step-Dad thinking that Mom and he decided it wasn't right to tell me and found out that he didn't know that I had two strokes either. I had a stroke on each side of my Thalomus of the brain and they are completely shocked that I am not paralyzed. And can't believe that I am this functional at only 5 months after the two strokes. I am in complete shock still. I am 50 to 75% recovered from the stroke but still not walking yet. Things are getting better though I walked 30 feet last night with a walker. I hadn't been able to do more than stand for 3 weeks. The meds are working! I go to the Rheumy on Thurs to see what is going to be changed in that area. I am only taking a low dosage of Celebrex and Prednisone right now. I am a very lucky person! I now see why the Neurologist looked strangely at me. He said that he couldn't believe the miracle. This DR pushed for me to be taken on that lifeflight to Stanford Hospital in Northern California. He said that all the closer hospitals didn't have beds but he went to Standford and knew the DR there and got me a bed. I was not supposed to make it. He keeps making sure that I know how serious things were. I was given medications and semi-concious for the first three weeks or so after the stroke. Nothing like being told even more things while trying to get back to my old self.

Take care and hugggggggggs,
Lisa
