I saw some liquorice root at half price at my local health food store. I got some for the taste (because liqurice sweets use wheat flour!). Then I had a look on the internet and found that not only is it an anti-inflammatory but it is also good to take if you are on NSAIDs as it forms a protective mucus lining in the stomach.

Quote:

Liquorice stimulates the production of a protective mucus barrier over the lining of the digestive tract that provides some protection against damage from medications such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and bile. Secondly, Liquorice has an anti-inflammatory and healing effect on damaged Mucous membrane (the moist skin tissue lining the digestive tract) and finally it blocks the secretion of excess stomach acid that can cause ulceration of the Mucous membrane.
INFLAMMATION
The proven anti-inflammatory property of Liquorice supports its traditional use in chronic inflammations such as skin diseases, rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.
