Yes it is good for us. I am like you... I get very sore. It's hard to get motivated!

I do some light yoga in the mornings (AM yoga dvd by giam.... great). Also I run on the eliptical machine at the gym... usually 1-4 miles. This is a lot easier on my joints. I can hardly go half a mile on a treadmill.

I use nautilus machines for weights. I do some lower back exercises to strengthen, but man does it make me sore. I need to keep it up to get it stronger to keep my lower back in shape.

Check with your doctor, but I think that the soreness is just something to be worked through. It is with me anyway. Come up with some low impact stuff you can do without over doing it. Just get it moving, and try to work your muscles.

There are some times I can't do cardio because my ribs are in so much pain. The heavy breathing hurts, and sometimes isn't possible when I get pain in my ribs. I know to stay away from working out in that time. Listen to your body and adjust.
