Hi,
Thanks for your comments. All constructive critism, which is what I was after!
The AS consultant I saw withdrew my GP (doctor's) initial diagnosis, as he didn't think my symptoms were typical of AS, (even though I tested positive for HLA-B27!), and when he sent me for an MRI to confirm this, they found a very large ovarian cyst (and no serious problems with the SI joints), so put my symptoms down to the cyst. I had this removed in June 2009, and for around 4 months felt a lot better, but then the pain in my hips, tiredness and starch intolerance seemed to come back with a vengence! Hip wise, I am more stiff and achy in the mornings, and if I walk for more than around 20 minutes, the muscles in my lower back and hips seem to seize up. I also have a groin strain in my upper right thigh, which limits movements in this leg (cutting my toe nails now is a major issue!!!!). I can't even cross my right leg over my left, as it pulls on the muscle. My GP said this would ease with time, but it hasn't. Maybe I need to get more aggresive with them!
As to the resistant starch, it is a bit of a typo! From my research, it would seem like resistant starch doesn't digest easily, but as a result the starch isn't released into the body, where it can cause problems. I should change that to read as above, and say that maybe resistant starch might be ok to eat of you have an intolerance? As always, I will make a point I am only supplying info, not a diagnosis/cure!
I am interested in your idea about lectins; that seems to make sense! I obviously need to do some research on this.
As I said before,I'm not sure if this will be released to the "general" public, but if nothing else it is a way of recording the info I have found out, and making it easier to understand.
Thanks so much for looking!
Regards,
Emma.
