I feel comfortable enough now to report my findings. I have been seeing Dr. Shrader in Santa Fe. He is an immunologist.I had the test dosing done in early May where I found out how I react to Klebsiella and I found out I was allergic to wheat.
June 1 I did the first treatment. It involves a small injection of Klebsiella (dead form) along with beta-glucuronidase. I will call this BG for easy reference. It is given to stimulate the suppressor T cells in the body to help the immune system properly respond to an agent such as Klebsiella. I also received a concoction of about 25 different foods along with the BG agent to desensitize my reaction to various foods.
First two days I felt like hell. This is supposed a good sign. Everything ached and I felt like I had the flu. But then when it lifted I started feeling normal. right now I feel perfectly fine. Before I always felt like I had a low level flul, felt weak and very tired. And this was on the NSD. AS is diminished greatly. I am eating a no gluten diet and limited dairy but plenty of starches. NO problems!!!!
The encouraging thing is the doctor told me the first shot is almost a test dose. It's a "homeopathic" dose to see how I do. The second and third treatment is where most everything happens.
Right now my body has normalized to food quite well which I realize is a seperate yet connected issue to my AS. I am improved about 60 percent with my AS. the thoracic spine still has some ache to it but at times it feels normal.
I havent had a response to treatment like this since I first started enbrel, which has since stopped working.
the plan is a shot every two months for a year i think then every 6 months then yearly only if necessary.
I am very exciting. there is a lot more to this treatment. You cant take most medicines for a period around the shot and you have to follow a very strict diet for three days surrounding the shot/treatment. I just fasted for the three days.
