Hi Wilhelm,
I haven't seen you around much. Good to hear from you. Yes, yes, and yes, the neck is a problem isn't it? Mine is almost done fusing. I have a slight hump where the neck meets the back and that is covered by my hair. Similar to Molly's if you go view the pictures on here. Otherwise, mine has fused straight. No blockage of the spinal canal or into the Esophagus. I recently purchased a medic alert bracelet however and put on the warning that the AS Association suggested... Ankylosing Spondylitis, Brittle Spine Disease so they are aware of my situation and won't break me darn neck!!!! I also ordered the local fire station the DVD that the Association is giving out to first responders to anyone who wants them sent to their area.
I do have the Panoramic Mirror with another "special" mirror to the right side of my car. I started a post on here some time ago about "Special Mirrors" and had a lot of people chime in. Of course the gent's prefer the racing style mirrors!!! Me, not so much. I try to park into a space I can pull on thru. Otherwise I have to turn my whole body and even that is getting harder to do.
You know Wilhelm, I was a scooch depressed about my neck for about a week. I sat in my tub and had a mini little grieving session over the loss of my neck but then I thought, that's enough, I'm not paralyzed so out I went and purchased my mirrors which upped my confidence.
I haven't had any stares that I know of. My friends notice when I am a little on the stiffer side but I guess maybe at my age, I don't care if I get any funny looks. I hope this helps. Sorry about your neck Wilhelm.
