Hello Everyone,

I am a fairly new member here, myself, and I didn't spend a whole lot of time "lurking" before jumping in with both feet!

I am constantly surprised (and heartwarmed) when I look at the number of "registered" members... It really grows every day. I was just looking around a little today, and I'm sure it went from 1605 to 1607 within an hour! I don't know about anyone else, but I find this encouraging as I know that the level of support here can only increase geometrically with every new member.

So, if you're a new member, and I haven't had the opportunity to welcome you here, please be assured that you are very welcome! (If you're an Oldbie who never got around to welcoming me, no problem, I know you're out there!)

And if you're just lurking around, why not join, or at least "speak up" and let us get to know you?

Don't asked me why I was moved to write this, I just was.

Warmest regards,
Andy

Im a bit of an oldie around here, not one to post on a regular basis, but I stop by most days and see whats what, so I welcome you and all newbies.
its funny that no one has responded to this thread. But it is a strange phenomenom (sp?) this site seems to make us say things out loud, as it were, when normally we would keep it to our selves. The support offered here is boundless and amazes me. Long may it continue.

Stay Well

HI Andy,
I knew it wasn't going to take long before you started feeling like you belonged here, and from this post I see it is happening!
Glad KA is becoming a source of knowledge and support for you like it has for me for years and so many others... new and old.
It's amazing how much this place has grown and how quickly it continues to do so.
In a way it's not such a good thing, because it means more people being diagnosed with AS, but then again it is, because they are finding their way here where they can find help in lot's of way. We all know how confusing and scary it can be when first diagnosed. I had never even heard of AS when I was diagnosed and when I started researching and asking questions I was getting so many different things told to me, which made it even more confusing. Then I found KA and things became clearer to me and I didn't feel so alone. Once we all reach this point we get excited when others arrive, because we know what this place has to offer...having experienced it ourselves, and we want the same understanding and feelings of belonging for them.
Glad you are reaching this point Andy and wanting to share it with others.
Welcome to those 2 newbies that joined today.
Hugs,
Lisa

Paul,

Thanks so much for being the one to "break the ice"! I didn't really expect a lot of replies to this, but I wanted to share some of what was happening with me and perhaps make it a little easier for some of those "lurkers" out there.

Glad to meet you,
Andy

Bradford,

I suppose I am very lucky in that I am not incapable of working, or doing most "everyday" things (although driving can be a real trial when trying to merge with traffic!). Sometimes I read some of the things people have gone through or are going through, and am amazed that they have the "bright" perspective and the will not only to deal with their own disease, but to support others with AS as well.

It is very reassuring to know that I am not alone and that I belong to an ever-growing community of people who share certain experiences and knowledge, and who are available to support each other.

I feel welcome here.

Andy

Lisa,

I really know what you mean about getting different information from different people about what my disease is about. I am still not 100% convinced I have AS, but everything I read and hear pushes me closer to belief.

It's great not only to have the support of everyone in this forum, but also the commonality of experience which helps me to know that I am not alone with this (which is how I felt before finding KickAS).

I want to thank you, and everyone here. You folks are great!

Andy

Hey Andy, Don't remember if I welcomed you on board or not. I'm affraid I'm not a real good ambassador around here. Oh, Welcome Andy. Almost forgot again, hehe. I find myself posting threads just to try to goad someone into posting so I'll have something new to read. Keep up the good work, your a poster and we like that!
