Hi everyone...
ugh. i think i now know what it feels for some of you folks with the neck and headache pain. i had just posted about my splendid feather pillows. then out of nowhere...yesterday the neck pain starts! started as a headache, took some tylenol. from there my neck felt as if it was in a tight grip. By the evening it was terrible. I went to bed early and today I could barely hold my head up it hurt so bad. Felt so tight around my neck it was literally making me nauseous. I threw up a couple of times. I know...more info than you all care to know. Sorry. So I popped some more tylenol and it stopped for a bit..but its back. Everytime I try to turn my neck to the right..the muscles are spazzing.

Do you all get nauseated with the neck pain as well?

Take care everyone...

Hi Angie,
I have never gotten sick from the neck pain but I have been in tears over it. This past Thursday was especially bad. I woke up at 4am with unbelieveable pain in my neck. I could not turn my head to the right. I could not sit up to relieve it or lay down to relieve it. I went to the doc Thursday afternoon. She ordered x-rays which of course came back normal. She had mentioned the possibility of my having a MRI done. I also start PT on Monday. Hopefully that will help. She recommend that I increase my Bextra to 40mg for three days then drop it back down to 20mg. Along with Flexeril. Enough about my woes. How else are you doing? Do you have a name picked out for the baby? Gosh it is getting closer and closer to your due date. I bet you all are excited!
Take care,
Cara
P.S. Any comments on MRI vs X-Rays?

Hi Cara...
I've taken the increased Bextra before like that and it seemed to help. Right now I am off all meds and since coming out preggers....gosh I got a nasty feeling of what my neck pain is like without them!! I never realized how bad it was. I would always take soma at night and recently bextra.

Ohhhh Cara...your neck sounds like mine...I cant turn it to the right without having pain. Nothing seem to relieve it right now. I lay down and then I feel better..then get up because my back gets stiff....then the pain starts all over again. I cant do xrays or anything. And like you...I'm sure nothing will come out ...till years later...when I'll be fused by then. Geez. No win situation. All I can do is ride it out till baby is here.

Well, I hit my 30th week tomorrow! I have a couple baby boy's name...going with an Italian name! Boy, I hope the next few weeks go by quickly. This texas heat is a killer.

MRI's were better at finding my back problems...but mylegram is what found my herniated disc for me in my back.

I've never gotten nauseous from neck pain....I think my latest bout of mausea was from my sinus infection. Sometimes sinuses tend to drain backward instead of forward, so you have all that junk in your stomach and it makes you really . Have you had your sinuses checked?

Neck/head pain and sinus pain can be VERY difficult to distinguish between. They also tend to feed off each other and the fine lines of what's causing what tends to get really blurred.

I hope you find something that works for your nausea!!!

Hey there stranger....
No...hulk bugs sinuses are clear...
It hurts so bad to try to move my neck to the right....I can feel the muscles knotted up on that side. Art offered to massage..but like my upper back....when it's flared up massage doesnt help at all. I've been popping some tylenol and it fends it over for a couple hours then its right back to square one.

I have had some battles with sinuses but I can usually tell when that happens because I have sore spots on my face near my nose and forehead where I have the sinus pressure. Dont have them today. Think it's a little neck flare. Ugh!

Hope you are feeling well these days???

Hi Angie,

Yes, the nausea coming in the same package with neck pain for me. In my case, might be even worse cause it can make my feels like the whole room spinning all around.

Can't sure if it's AS related for the nausea thing but I think in my case, AS make it worse.

Last time, I had very worse nausea and threw up for two days, can't get up from bed and if I have to go to the bathroom, I have to hold on something.

Take care,
Sinta

Hi Sinta..
good to hear from you my friend..
yes...i lay down and feel better..but once i start moving about....ugh....head and neck hurt like &^*%% !

Been on computer but cant turn neck or move. Popped some more tylenol and although I am sleepy my neck is so sore...afraid to hit the sack!

Hopefully it will pass soon. The throwing up is the worst. Dry heaves and then it doesnt make my neck feel any better. Not very hungry either...NOW you know I dont feel well right??

Angie,

I don't like throwing up either but every time I sick, I have to threw up, all the time.

As about the nausea, it feels bit better after the threw up (the dizzy less a bit) but surely you know how it felt.

Sorry to hear that you have to through this, hope you can feel better soon.

Hugs,
Sinta

PS: I prefer to share nice or good experience next time rather than this nausea thing

Hey Buggie, hope you're feeling better today. I don't get nausea with neck pain, but I do if the neck pain is associated with a tension headache/migraine. Have you tried an icepack on the back of your head? You have to be careful not to put it full on your neck, because your body's thermometre/temperature control is apparently located back there somewhere (I heard that from someone). But if you place it at the base of your skull, or the top of the shoulders, it should be OK.

That's my only suggestion.

Hugs,

Kat

Fortunately I am Kat...
Thank goodness. It only lasted a couple of days. Headache, neck and stiffness all okay in that area now. WHEW!!

Thanks for the suggestion. I've done ice before in my neck and it really helps me. It's actually one of the few areas where I dont wince when I apply it! It feels good on my neck.

Still dont know what triggered it off. The only plus of being pregnant is that although my flares are still consistent...they only last a couple days..then move on to another area of my body.

take care...
