In a quite fantastic weekend for English rugby union and British rugby league (two similar but distinct sports) the world-champion Australian teams were beaten convincingly here in the UK by the home nations.
I prefer the union code myself, but seeing as the league boys did their stuff so well, I'll post both scores:

In Rugby UNION: England 21 - Australia 15 (damn it feel nice even just to type that!!) Pictures here...

In Rugby LEAGUE: Great Britain 20 - Australia 12 Pictures here...

The Aussies are the planet's best at both these sports, so the joy of these results is great indeed.

Cheers,

Reminds me of one of my standards:
Someone asks what the score is and I say 3-1. "Who's winning?". 3

I actually didn't think it would have taken this long for a post to come out.... Both Aussie teams beaten in the same weekend but of course that's only the first test for each team, feel free to post again the results of the next few games.

I must admit though, the Aussies were beaten by a good side in both games.... your guys played well and deserved the wins. I look forward to the next couple of matches.

Well, I didn't know exactly how to handle the situation, so I decided to make a whole new forum just to post it!!! (I'm kidding).

The Union game is a one off, so the Cook Cup stays here in England, this is great for me 'cos it's the only international rugby union trophy not currently residing in the Wallaby's over-filled trophy cabinet. I was there last year when we won in the seventh minute of extra-time. I sponateaously combusted of course, but luckily there was lots and lots of beer to calm the flames. However, the league series is indeed a series of tests - so it'll be very interesting indeed to see the Kangaroos come back in a big way.

Great respect to your proud sporting nation.

Cheers,
