A pain in a new place is still a pain. And since AS is such an ugly monster, we tend to blame it for everything. There is a slim chance it could be something else. Muscle strain? Hiatus hernia? Acid reflux? Gallstones?

Wishing you good luck.

Hugs,

Cindy

I just reread this post and remembered that about nine years ago I had a sharp stabbing pain running from my ribs through my body to my back. (It is so amazing that I had forgotten about this - 'cause at the time I thought I was going to die). I had a really hard time breathing. I remember calling my primary doctor at the time and as bad as I was feeling all they could say was that they couldn't squeeze me in (last time I called that doctor for anything). I went to the emergency room and they ran some tests but never did figure out what it was. This was a few months after I had been treated for bursitis. Wow. I never would have thought to put this all together but it had to be the first manifestations of AS. Slowly getting my memory back ... Helen

I am not sure about the bloating unless you are on steroids or some other kind of med or have IBS. I do know that the pain you are describing for me is the inflamation taking hold during one of my flare ups. I have had to learn to shallow breathe just to make it thru the day. The only thing that helps me is heat, steroids and pain meds. If you have a good Dr. you might call him and he can tell you or help by prescribing something for you.

I will keep you in my prayers as I know normal or what we can call normal days are hard enough, but flare up days or weeks for me is like my body takes on the war inside me.

Hugs,
Angelmom

Yes, sadly, yes.......

Absolutely horrid and scary. Movement snags it, sleeping gets disrupted as well...

Not the stomach as such but close to it, horrid, gnawing radiating on lower back....

Shoulder blades

Don't wish to cry, but I know whot you mean............

Neck bone is connected to the..........

Nice to think we might find the right "button" to push one day.......

Live in hope and keep kicking

Mcmom and Towman,

Sorry I didn't notice the posts. Well seems that my stomach is doing a bit better...I don't know what caused it but I believe its IBS. The jabbing is starting to get better. I had to down some methodone pills and then some flexiril. That helps the pain. But the methodone keep me up all night. I took it around 6pm and I was up up till 4:30 in the morning. I have plenty of pain pills but I don't use them anymore. They really throw my whole system off. My pain keep raditing to my shoulder where I had the ostoscopic surgery for a tear on my roto cuff. The last time I talked to my rhuemy he said the pain in my shoulder blade is because my ribs are fused and the arthritis flares-up in that area and causes the pain to come back.. Oh well.... This pain that I get seems to come around every so many months. Like saying "You still have AS and I can still flare-up anytime I want to"....

Thanks again ...Enjoy your Thanksgiving Holiday....

Dan
