If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I found out last fall I have a heart valve problem - - nothing major, or at least not at this point. Slight leakage. Means antibiotics for dental work. But the reason they were investigating my heart was because of rapid pulse and at times dangerous rises in blood pressure - - during exercise usually. The heart racing, however, could happen even without exercise. I'm on a very low does BP med and it's controlling both the whacky BP rises and the racing heart. I also am now drinking decaf which probably helped. Have you been told to avoid caffeine? My mom, who does not have AS, does have this heart racing (also irregular heartbeat) problem, has had it for years off and on, and avoids caffeine. Might also take something for it, I'm not sure. When they were evaluating me last year they sent me for an ultrasound of my heart -- whcih showed the leaky valve problem - - also had me wear a heart monitor for 24 hours which gave a history of how my heart was beating over that space of time. Maybe it's time you saw a cardiologist????? Might be nothing, might be something, but best to know. Cheryl If you can't be a good example you'll just have to serve as a horrible warning. Propranolol is a good blood pressure/tachycardia/panic attack drug, but it does have one very bad side effect (which I got :( )--if you have asthma, it can make your asthma worse.
What happened to me was that I had undiagnosed mild asthma, which became worse after taking propranolol.
For me, the symptoms started after taking the drug for about five days.

Hi Maggie, I'm in a rush, just wanted to let you know that I have taken propranolol for high blood pressure and migraine prevention since 1997 and the only side effect I've had is in my wallet! For some reason the pharmacies haven't been able to get the generic for the past year or two and I'm stuck with paying for the brand name. Anyway, just wanted you to know that I've had no negative side effects whatsoever. Connie

Dear Maggie, My heart rate runs a little above the 120's most of the time. Sometimes I feel like a hummingbird except I'm not flying around. The drs say they worry about it, but just to keep an eye on it. HMMMMMM> I have mitral valve prolapse and have had inflammatory heart problems in the past. My guess is that it does have something to do with the autoimmune process that causes the AS. I don't know of any autoimmune diseases that just stay put in one place. I agree with the others on the calming stuff. Anything good that you can do for yourself to calm. Also stay away from antihistamines, caffeine, etc. Talk to your dr. or check the internet. Also, if you are allergic to things, that reaction can cause an increase in heart rate. I am allergic to everything, even my husband. Ha Ha. Lots of love, Nancy

Maggie, I just wanted to lend my support. I know nothing about the problem or the drug, but you do sound so very frightened. Know that I'm with you. Many hugs, Kat

I'm very uninformed on so many topics related to AS and this is certainly one of 'em. Just letting you know I hope you get some sound advice and that my little crew has you in our thoughts. Seems like you're having a rough winter with the iritis and now this.     stevec-they also serve who stand and wait
