Hi Joe

I had an EKG today. It gives a printed report with it, which stated certain abnormalities. The doctor said she could see no abnormalities, only a very fast rate. She faxed it off to a cardiologist and then phoned me at home to say that he said the same thing.
Truthfully - I don't buy it. Isn't there a reason for a hertbeat to be this fast ? It isn't allways this fast - sometimes it is normal. It's just that the high speed and skipping beats is happening daily now and for more and more of the day
Anyway. I pray that I will calm down enough to sleep tonight and then wake up ( hopefully ) calmer in the morning.

Do you have any tips on how to approach the doc when I see her next week ?
I may have more questions for you as time goes on, if that's ok.

I know that getting so anxious is the worst thing I can do but This has been building up for so long now and I have been so upset by the lack of urgency displayed by doctors.

I'll try to stay calmer.

Thanks Joe

Maggie

Hi Maggie!

Sorry to hear that your ticker is not behaving as it should. It does sound worrying but I think George's advice is right on the mark. Hearts are the one area these docs know SO much about and more importantly... know how to fix. This also means they should be able to provide you with some reasoning for why this is happening. I, too, would want to gain a better understanding and benefit from the peace of mind that they are investigating it thoroughly.

In the meantime, I hope the little pills keep everything under control and please let us know how it goes at your next appointment. I wouldn't let the doc dismiss your question re: possible AS complications. Ask that one again. Even if it only serves to signal that you really are interested in hearing details.

Take care and know I'll be thinking of you!
Hugs,

mig

Well you could say that.

I got put in Hospital about 5 years ago, because my Blood Pressure was high and the ECG readings. I was stuck in Hospital for just over a week. After numerious Cat Scans, XRays, Ultrasounds and finally a MRI they could not find anything wrong.
Blood Pressure was something like 120 over 210, at the same time I had a high temperature. I got tested for all tropical diseases and numerous blood tests. Then got sent to a Kidney specialist as they still could not bring the blood pressure down enough. In the end I got put on a Medication called Trandate and it worked.

In the end they started pointing the finger at AS.

If you are concerned about your heart, get it check out, play it safe.

Good Luck
Wayne

Hi George

My rate does vary greatly. Nothing was said about this. Maybe the slow is not slow enough nor the fast fast enough - I have no idea. There was no mention of valve noise. I asked about inflammation due to AS and she said nothing.

I am so confused.

Actually, I kind of expected the ambulance treatment today. Instead, I had to drive 1/2 hr to the hospital and then take the EKG back with me to the doctor.
I feel I am in a really bad way but I suppose she thinks not - I have to rely on her being right I suppose.

Sorry that you have difficulties too George. Take care of yourself and thanks for your help.

Maggie

Hearts don't really skip a beat Maggie. I thought that this was happening when my heart went into arryhthmia the first time. What actually happened was that my heart beat got faster for a couple of beats and then the beats were farther apart. No beats were missed, just a longer time span between them.

Hi Mig

I agree, I have to persist with this to get answers. I will also be sure to talk about the AS connection again. I will have to be very very persistent as this seems to be the only way to be taken seriusly.

Thanks for your concern Mig.

HI Maggie,
Sorry to hear bout your heart problems. It does sound scarey but (and I know it's easier said than done) try to stay as calm as you can. Let us know what happens after your appointment next week.

Here's a link for Propranolol

Hi Wayne

Wow that sounds scary. Funny thing is, my blood pressure and cholesterol levels are both good.
I have a strong feeling that in the end, this will all point to AS too. This was my first suggestion to the doc but it seems it will be the last thing she will agree on.
What a surprise huh !!!!!!!

Thanks Wayne

Maggie
