Well, folks, I made it across the bridge. They put a new concrete bridge in as the old rickety metal one I remember from YEARS ago was gone...made the nerves much better!

Went in and had a chat and an exam. Physical exam was normal except very little range of motion in neck (DUH!!!). They are going to do **another** complete bloodworkup (RF, ANA, SED, etc. etc. etc.). I am getting more MRIs to head and neck in late May, by some of the best machines in the region.

Nurse practitioner thought it is all degenerative-related pain, BUT the neurology department head (a guy of like 70+ years of age, sharp as a tack, that was absolutely HILARIOUS) mentioned everything "COULD" be "rheumatologic" in cause, wonder of wonders!!!

Nurse Prac. was JUST going to treat me ONLY for head pain, until I absolutely DRILLED it into her head that this is MORE THAN JUST HEAD PAIN! (sorry for the caps!!) I explained how the pain travels, one day it's one joint, next day in head, next day in lower back, etc. The absence of pain in one area is a GUARANTEE of pain in another area!!! Know what I mean, doc??? It's MY body, I think it's all related. RELATED! GOT IT???

THEN the nurse prac. wanted to give me MIGRAINE pain meds and eliminate the Ultracet!!!!1!!11!!!!1!!!! Of course that was before she talked to the neuro head guy, I'm sure he told her "if it ain't broke don't fix it" and she said nothing about getting me off the Ultracet after SHE talked with HIM . Boy, did she change her tune fast, I thought.

We will again know nothing for sure until the end of May, as I want to stall things a bit until after me and my Mum's trip to New York mid-May, and I attempt to pay off some lingering credit card debt. I will have another MRI, and will get the results of the bloodwork. Until then, they said it's not an *emergency* situation since the Ultracet is handling things nicely, with which I agree.

Thank G-d for insurance. I feel bad mostly for my insurance, going doc-to-doc like this with no results.

So, stay tuned for the next installment of "As Roxanne's Diagnosis Turns".

Glad you had a better experience Rox!!!

As far as feeling sorry for the insurance company, believe me they are making a ton more money than you will ever put a dent in!! LOL

First of all, GOOD FOR YOU!!!!

Secondly, what the heck is a nurse practitioner doing making med. decisions? Aren't the doctors supposed to do that? What am I missing here?

Hugs,

Kat

Hey Rox, hang in there, girl!!

I don't know why the heck you are going through all of this nonsense, and why NOBODY seem to be able to help you.
But I really really believe that one day you will meet a doctor who actually cares enough to take the time and solve this puzzle for you ( *strings and violines fading in the background* )

In the mean time keep posting - and keep making this board laugh! I have truly missed your sensationally humorous posts!

hugs,

Hi Rox

I am so glad that you made it over the bridge. Were the eyes open or closed???

At least the neuro doctor had a chat with the Nurse practitioner and it seems explained that he was the doctor. I agree with Kat what was she doing trying to make decisions like that. I know she has trainging but she is not a Doctor.

I do hope that you will finally get the correct Diagnosis .

Take care
Valerie

Sounds like you took a trip to Dansville... Haven't been in this area long enough to know the old rickety bridge... Do have some of the best docs in the area over there... Hope they finally diagnose you besides your IAYH dx... Weather is breaking so give me a holler if you want to get together some time...

Well at least it sounds like you're starting to scare that medical crew into shape a little bit. ALways good when they learn not to mess with you. Better when they learn how to fix you up. Here's hoping they figure that part out soon.

Hey Bob, I won't call this a good experience yet....but I agree, it's a better experience than having someone take one look and boot you out the door like the last time I've been in this facility. That neuro head guy was SUCH a trip. He was too cool! And I agree about the insurance companies. The people working for them are probably making a lot more $$$ than I do!

Thanks, David. I'm closely getting up to about 7 myself. Does 7 count?
