Hello everyone

Well thank goodness last week is finally over. I had one miserable weel first of all I was in a bit of a flare and was sore I know that part of it was due to the weather. We had rain, rain and more rain. Then at work I was having computer problems it kept shutting down and then starting up on its own. It wouldn't have been too bad but it did it everytime I was in the middle of something. Then it seems that everyone at work took an interest in how I was feeling. The main question how are you with this weather? you must be in pain. (Not that you could guess I was limping because of my hip and back being so sore.) That question was always followed up by so when are you having the other hip done?? If it is bothering you so much then just have it done.This didn't help my mood much I just started saying I am never having the hip done and if they want to know why just go have one done yourself. I mean the doctor and I know that it has to be done and he will do it tomorrow if I tell him to. But we both want to wait another while sure it bothers me but I don't think that it is something that I can't handle.
The topper came friday when the schedules came out for next week. I put in for a vacation day on Monday since I have an appoitment with a specialist about my stomach. Lo and behold there I am scheduled to wor. I said its not going to happen . I told (yes told not asked) my superviser that he better get it fixed because I am not showing up on Monday (that is the short version) . This didn't help my mood any as he said that the ones that do the scheduling are in meetings I said well you just go get one out and tell them to fix it. The others could see the steam coming out of my ears. Well it took a while but I am glad to say that I have Monday off.
A coworker said what if it can't be fixed and you have to work. I said there is no way after waiting for about 6 months am I missing that appoitment I will go to the manager and just tell him what happened and that I was not going in on Monday and to deal with it. She said you can't do that I said want to bet just watch me. It was fixed before I had to take that step but it put me in a bad bad mood the rest of the day and I am still not in the best of moods. All I can say is that the doctor better have some ideas and not tick me off.
Thanks for letting me blow off some steam . I feel a little better now.

Vent away!!!!! Do you ever feel like some people without AS are....CLUELESS!!!! Good for you for standing up for yourself. Hope you have a much better week and get some help on Monday.

Hey Valerie,

Sorry to hear you had such a bad week and to top it off a sick computer to go with it. Sure hope you were able to save the work you were doing and didn't have to start over each time. I agree people without AS or any other form of chronic pain are clueless, including physical therapist who you tell you are hurting and can't do something yet they want you to try and end up making your condition worse instead of better. Am glad you got Monday off it is funny how they sometimes forget especially when a person has had to wait for months to see a doctor, because they can't get in any sooner. Oh well as least you got it taken care of. I would have took that other person who said you can't do that, well I will just call in well and tell them I have a doctors appointment to see why, hehe.

Has anyone ever been told by a physical therapist that the pain you have is because one leg is longer than the other? That has happened to me twice so far. Go figure.

Hey Maureen,

All I have ever had was a surgeon tell me one leg was ½" shorter than the other, but that is was within the range of being considered as normal. He said everyone has one leg shorter than the other and the feet also have a slight difference in size. How much shorter did they tell you your leg was than the other?

I have heard chiropractors tell people the difference in the length of their legs is the cause of their pain and then tell them they could fix the problem with a heel lift for their shoes and adjustments over a period of time.

Hi,

got told that quiet a few times and then I read an xray report from 97 and looked it up, what AS does to your hips early on .....damages part of the hip and so one leg might be shorter due to AS....

This week is starting off bad already. I just received a call from the doctors office rescheduling me until Dec. 20. Believe me this is just adding to my bad mood.
After waiting to see him for 6 months and then fighting to get the day off I have to wait. for another month. I took the appoitment and told the receptionist that I will try and get the day off. But to tell you the truth I don't even know if I am going to try. Imagine trying to get a day off that close to christmas yeah right.

But as for the computer problem last week I had to start fro scratch each time. Hopefully when I go into work tomorrow it will be fixed.

Yes this was for the upper gi issue. But it isn't going to happen today they called and rescheduled like I have nothing better to do than try and get a day off of work .

I am hoping that the computer will be fixed when I go in tomorrow. i could go in today since my appoitment was cancelled but the mood I am in it wouldn't be a good idea. Besides my back is killing me and I don't think a 10 hr shift will do it any good today
