I got 5 of 11... not too bad it said.

So you got to stay in the country.... are they worried no one would understand you?

OK Brent.... so you are ready to travel? Of all the countries you could travel to, which one would you pick?

Just curious...

If I had to select one would be tough... but maybe Germany since that is 90% of my ancestory. Only other country besides US I have visited is Canada... not much experience with foreign travel.

Turkey traditions....

Not many actual T-Day traditions growing up unless you count going to Grandmothers house, eating too much and then watching football But Grandmothers cooking always made it worthwhile..... all of the family was there (grandparents, aunts/uncles, parents, brother etc...). Table was packed with food... turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatos, rolls, corn, fresh cut veggies, cranberry dishes..... (lot of leftovers).

A different tradition I had with friends the night before T-Day after college was an annual Sheepshead Party (Sheepshead is a German card game for those not in the know). Miss that tradition quite a bit not living in WI anymore.

All from this Non-traditional Kicker

Hey Tim,

If I had to pick one country to go to it would be as you answered. We went to England and Germany in 1982 spending three days in London and the surounding area and four day in Germany. My mother's side of the family was expelled before the War being stripped of their land and money then shipped to the US. The last name was Knellinger.

I really enjoyed Germany because everything seemed so clean and pleasant even when we rode the trains to some of the villages outside of Frankfurt. Plus they have great beer. The hardest part for me was everytime my wife would ask someone for or about something they would answer me in German and I would have to explain I did not unstand enough German to know what they were talking about.

I would love to travel to Germany.. Have been wanting to go there for years now, espicially durring the Oktoberfest! Of course I keep telling my wife if we she has to stay close by or I might blend in... lol... Of course a last name of Bruhmuller should put me in good with the locals anyway! I still have family over there, or so I have been told. But i guess that sometime before the start of WW II my great, great (maybe one or two more greats in there, not sure) Grand Daddy moved here, and fought for the US durring the war. I have always wanted to go to Germany and see for myself the land and culture I come from. Now that I'm a Dad myself I can't wait to take Jake there too and teach him about our family.

by the way I only scored 6 of 11 so they suggested some brushing up before I hit the road. guess i should get busy then.. talk to you all later

Hi Everyone and Happy Thanksgiving! I got 7 out of 11 and says it's ok to travel, but I'm staying home. The only family traditions for Thanksgiving that I kept going, that my dad started is, One we have to watch Wizard of Oz when it's on TV thanksgiving week (even though we have the dvd now) and we usually have popcorn, which when I was a kid, it was Jiffy Pop, that you had to constantly move on the stove so it wouldn't burn and it amazed us watching the alluminum bubble get bigger and bigger, On Turkey day itself, when we sit down to eat, we hold hands and say Thanks (prayer) and then we each have to say 1 thing we are thankful for. My daughter Aubrey is coming home today from college, I haven't seen her since August and this is the longest (since her birth) that we have been apart, so I am very Thankful for that. I am also continually thankful for our men & women in the services, who are sacraficing their own traditions right now, and of course thankful that even though Mike has AS and it sucks, he is still here and we are able to be together. Well the list could go on and on, so I'll stop. so HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!
Love, Sheila (& Mike, Aubrey, Shanoah, Seth,

The only Oktoberfest I have had the chance to go to was in the city of my birth, Baltimore, MD (Baltimere for the locals). I've always wanted to attend one in Germany but have not yet had the opportunity to do so. One other thing I enjoyed while in Germany was the public pools which prove to have some very nice scenery for both males and females. While they have dressing rooms and most of the women go topless the shower beside the pool is used the most when they strip off and rinse theirself's off before changing into their clothes to go home.
