Do any of you notice and correlation between the amount of coffee you drink and the severity of symptoms?

I have heard anecdotal evidence of people getting relief by giving up coffee but cannot find any more on it on the internet.

Ken.

aloha,

there was a nice article in the new york times a couple days ago about coffe having antioxidant and antiinflammatory
properties...

subscript...if you're one of those 'anti-caffein' people...a test quanily control test of DECAF coffe showed
dunkin donut's decaf as about six times as strong as is allowed for 'decaf'...on;y folger came close to meeting the
standard...AND contrary to popular opinion...'mild/mellow' coffees have more caffeine than the dark/bold- french
roast style coffees
best

I drink an ocean of coffee a day. Maybe i'll give it up and see if there is a change in my symptoms. The result will probably answer your question. But all for one and one for all as the saying goes. We are all different. I think i'll try though(why not right?)Take Care People, Scotty...

Yes, I've noticed, that's why I am a sulking tea drinker
I save the coffee for special treats.

Ken
some time ago I was told that coffee was possibly responsible for some of the inflammation problems I was getting. I was my usual self and told myself it was probably a load of 'bull'. I had already changed to 'decaf' in about 2000, and now cannot drink normal coffee, especially at night as it affects my sleeping. Anyway about 10 weeks ago I decide to give up coffee and only drink tea or water ( or beer and whisky) depending on the time of day, as yet I have not noticed any difference, especially as I am sat here in agony, having not made it to work today, again.
Another thought crossed my mind a couple of weeks ago in that there is also a lot of caffeine in tea also, so I have stopped tea now, I'll keep you posted as to what if any this proves.

Hey there
I thought that there might be a correlation between coffee and inflammation too, so I stopped for couple of days (I drink 3 cups a day) and the only thing I noticed was the headaches I got from lack of caffiene. I needs me coffee to wake up and if it causes inflammation...well so be it.

I've got AS, and the only prescription is "more cowbell"

I can't imagine not having coffee the first thing in the morning....I need the caffeine rush and sometimes crave it.
Usually one in the morning will keep me bouncing off the walls until late afternoon. I have given it up in short durations at various times to see if it had any bearing on my inflammations and flares but it didn't........just left me dragged out and craving the stuff. I think they must put crack in Starbucks or something.....that stuff is the heroin of coffees!

Ditto. I hurt more; spasms are accentuated; and, I am more irritable.

Also, a nurse pointed out to me that caffeinated drinks are diuretics and dehydration emphasizes my symptoms.

Not sure that is what you meant by weird, but, remember, "When the going gets wierd, the wierd turn pro."

Best regards,

jcwinnie
