Recently I was told to post my comments and stories in the men's forum. I obligated by doing so and soon realized that I was the only one who uses it. I feel like a kid who was sent to the corner of the classroom with a dunce cap on to stand there by myself and keep quiet. I did'nt mean to be offensive or judgemental in anything I may have said here and I would'nt have posted anything that you would'nt find in your local newspaper articles that anyone could read. I use humour as a way to deal with my depression and thought that most of you appreciated my ability to make them laugh. I still believe that laughter is the best medicine next to a handfull of painkillers, but it is obvious to me now that there are some people here that don't agree with this.
I came to this site for info and support, along the way I have made some close friends and learned alot about this dreaded disorder that has tormented me for the past 20+yrs. I thank everyone who has helped me through some tough times and apologise to anyone I may have offended here. I will be limiting my posts to A/S related questions and perhaps reply to the odd question that I know I have a direct and conclusive answer for. To anyone who wishes to discuss anything or just chat with me I will do so by way of e-mail and would be happy to give out my e-mail address to anyone who asks for it by way of pm.

This is'nt a goodbye but rather a see you later,

sincerely,
Steve R.

Hi Steve!! I just wanted you to know that I enjoy reading everything that you post. Nothing you have said has ever offended me and I find humor in a lot of the stuff that you post. I myself have a depression issue, a lot of if stemming from this disease and also a lot from the things that I see in the job that I have. I have also learned that humor is the best medicine. Please feel free to PM me anytime you need someone to talk or send me an e-mail at the address listed in my profile. I wish you the best of luck and I look forward to hearing from you!!

Hi Steve,

I hope you don't go too far in the other direction. A little humour or just conversational posting is good for us. I didn't see your more colorful posts, so I can't comment on them. Don't take this wrong - but there were a couple of times that you did kind of remind me of my Akita before he was fixed. But that's ok, because Akita's are lovable too. Take care and cheer up, Wanda

Steve, I too hope that you won't be absent for too long. You may not feel it, but alot of people appreciate your contributions (humourous or otherwise) here.

It's so hard to gauge things like humour. You have a bawdy sense of humour that alot of people get. Unfortunately, at a place like this, with such a variety of folk, not everyone will appreciate it. So, then you have to tone things down a little. I know that this is a place where we should be able to be ourselves (it's a support group, after all). However, I think we've all had to learn where our personal lines are (for instance, I'm actually not half as political here as I like to be - TRUST me, I'm not). Things like bawdiness, politics, swearing, religion, can be very touchy. Especially online, where it's easy to misunderstand intent because you can't see facial expressions, body language, hear tone of voice or inflections.

I'd hate for you to absent yourself from a place that is obviously of help to you, Steve, and where you have helped others.

Hugs,

Kat

Well said Kat,

Steve,
I really enjoy your sense of humour, there are days when I feel like crap and then I read one of your posts and am laughing again. So, don't be gone for good, and if you want to be your more humourous self send me an email or PM.
Take Care,
Jill

Hey Steve,

No one replying to something in the men's forum is par for the course. Not a lot of folks peek in there even to see if there's anything new.

There is no hint because people here think and act independent of each other. Lots of folks probably have appreciated your posts and maybe some found a specific one or two inappropriate for the main forum. Not a big deal.

AS can lead to each of us having a bit of a thin skin. Well being worn out by daily pain will make anyone less than perfectly patient, but don't call it quits on this place because you had an instant where you didn't see eye to eye with everyone. I thought you wandered a bit off the reservation with the post that was moved but I surely don't want it to be something that makes you abandon this place.

Best wishes.

I didn't know there was a "men's forum". If the goup is going to start some kind of censorship then I withdrawl my membership.

Hey Steve,

Well, I've never been offended by anything you've said but then I also have a warped sense of humour. I never used to but I picked it up off my husband.

Occassionally people here get a little too P.C for my liking and it sounds like they're reading from a Brady Bunch script. But I suppose that's the best way to keep everyone happy and avoid offending others. Even when you say things that are a bit dodgy I know you don't really mean them but are just joking around. Perhaps some people just don't understand your sense of humour and think you are actually serious.

Anyhoooo, hope you do stick around. Due to all the different personalities and age groups here we all have to think before we post. You can't please everyone though and there will always be someone who will get their back up over something. Can't be helped.

Take care
Chelsea
