I hate these nights that pain keeps me awake. I have been dealing with a lung infection and a very incompetent dr. He was almost making me as upset as getting a van modified.

I have had to be in bed for a few days mostly. I know that is why my pain level is up. I need to be active. Tomorrow (today) I see the nutrionist and the trainer. I guess I will see if I am making progress at eating healthier.

The thread about the NSD diet was very interesting. I know my nutrionist tells me I need red meat twice a week (which I was doing a max of once a "month") because there is a certain iron that you get no where else. A serving for me by the way is 2 oz. Also, fish at least 3 times a week. I had basically turned into mostly eating cereal because I had hurt too much to cook.

Since we are eating tons of veggies and fruit, measuring our starches faithfully and sticking with the protein, I have been stronger and my hubby has lost at least 15 pounds. The 15 was about 10 days ago and he has lost more now. I haven't done so well because I was only eating about 800 calories a day just not being hungry so we are working my calorie count "up". I am at 1200 and beginning to lose. Eat more and lose weight. There is a BIG difference in the amount of calories in a bowl of cereal for supper and the same amount in a well balanced diet.

I am not sure what this has with any thing except to just share with you the importance of a well balanced diet. She said you can be healthy on a vegetarian diet but it is very hard to get every thing you need. I am stronger than I have been in a long while and totally embarassed that I would let myself get nutritionally deficient. That happens because of fatigue and pain and hubby's fatigue and pain.
Now I know if I can't cook, there is always a place where I can get meals catered that are good healthy meals.

I will wait 20 years now to eat like an 80 year old woman which is what she told me.

Well, here's hoping my pain med has kicked in. I am going to go back to bed and try again.

I think of you all often and read much more than I post.

Hope you all have a blessed day.

Hi Possi,

You know I am here for you...

We have spent alot of sleepless nights together.

It doesn't seem like just wanting to get a good nights sleep should be that hard, but those of us suffering from pain and insomnia it is almost impossible.

I will pm you later and let you know what is going on here,

Take Care,

Lisa

Hi Possi,

I hope you are feeling better today. What kind of lung infection are you dealing with? Please take care of yourself. It sounds like you have your hands full lately.

If I had only known you were online then, I would have gotten online and we could have talked the night away. I was also up that night, trying hard not to keep my husband awake.

Hugs and Warm wishes, Wanda

Joyce, I'm so sorry you were awake to make this post, but your experiences in changing your diet are heartening. We so often misjudge the beneficial effects that a healthy diet can have. I'm glad you've found a way around those days when you don't feel up to cooking.

And I'm doubly glad you came here to post this. You have been there for so many of us. How're you feeling today?

Many warm hugs,

Kat

Hello, Possi,

I'm sorry you are hurting so much now, but so glad you have a handle on your nutrition. What we eat is so important to our health.

I hope and pray your get a good doctor and feel much better soon,

How are you feeling now, any better? What's with your lungs? Is this something long term, or something you'll get over soon? It sounds like your trainer is good for you. I'm glad this has worked out so well. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for asking. I "hope" it's not long-term. Right now it is an infection. The thing is I have Bronchiectasis where the bronchial tubes get little "bubbles" on them and the infection gets in them and it is hard to get out. The "bubbles" build up on each other and can honey-comb your lungs and the end result is not good. That is why I stay away from sick people and places and we probably picked it up at the gym.

The trainer is good for both of us. We are both stronger and our pain is better. Exercise just helps your pain; no doubt about it. I think the water exercise really does but now I am a real believer in strength training and cardio and we are having fun doing it together. The bad part is the trying to cook healthy 3 times a day and make it different. I have got to find a good healthy eating cookbook with some new ideas.

Thanks for asking.

Back to bed.
