If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi Kat, I really believe that about letting kids be kids .We are so lucky to live here with the bush behind us and the ocean a 5 minute walk away. The neighbourhood kids are so great and they have a ball along with mine building cubbies and camps in the bush. Unfortunately the private swim centre shut down last year and the town pool lessons are a rip off with up to 5 children in a class for half anhour...not going there...tho in summer the kids spend heaps of holiday days at our friends pool down the road so they still have that.Yes I am worrying and I know it may not happen but its still a worry.thanks and you take care too,jude2

Hey Jude (take a sad song and make it better)
The good news about this result happens to be that you will know in advance if your son begins to develop the symptoms of AS. It means that you can make corrections before it is too late and he ends up fusing.
I think you need to look at the positives rather than worrying about something that might not happen. You need to make sure that any of the other factors that might have helped your own AS to develop are eliminated so that he will not end up the same way.
I have three sons, and only the middle son has shown any signs of problems that might be similar to my own set of symptoms. He told me that his toes keep on dislocating, and yes I end up with dislocated toes but not as bad as his case. He told me that one of my nieces has the same kind of symptoms. Now it could be that this is a link to RA within the family. I had a great-aunt with RA, and I have the positve RF (now at 66, so it is beginning to rise).
You have been offered some good advice about some of the more positive steps that you can take as a prevention exercise. Since you live in the tropics, though, beware of Ross River Virus, because if he gets bitten by the mozzies and he ends up with Ross River Virus, then I would bet anything that he will end up with AS.

Hello jude, Others have given you great advice and support so I wanted to add my .04 (inflation lol) I've had my back pain for the past 15yrs. I also remember now when you mentioned telling your son to straighten up, my mom used to say that to me too when I was a teen. UG! Anyhow, I was tested last year and positive for HLA-B27, and since my daughter developed Hashimotos at the same time I became a type 1 diabetic, I had her tested also for the gene. Well, she came back positive also. I grilled her about various aches and pains and told her just to keep an eye out for anything weird. The only thing she's stated that hurts is her shoulder and neck muscles burning a wee bit and achey, I think she sits at the computer way too long But my next appt I'll be talking to my neuro about them, if she should be checked out.
I worry too.. just cannot let it eat you up. Best I can say, try not to worry so much and just keep on top of it. Nothing you can do to stop it, because this is just something out of our hands. But if you're aware, it won't be so bad IF it ever happens.
You're kids are lucky to have such a loving momma. Take it easy.
