If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi again, Just noticed this on http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?articleId=518§ionId=25282Causes of conductive hearing loss include: middle ear infections (otitis media), build up of fluid in the middle ear (glue ear), blockage of the ear canal by earwax, injury to the eardrum, otosclerosis (a disorder of the middle ear), and rheumatoid arthritis Tim

I know people say LOL, but i really did, love the idea your ears can detect the weather change. Oh, laughing is a good thing sometimes. Thank you for the post. Hey, thanks for all the posts. I think we can therefore state that 'blocked ear' (that was just my term for it and has no medical basis by the way) is just another part of AS... could be someting to do with it, as these posts say. All your symptoms are what Charlie is sensing, echoing noise and like there is something left on in the house etc. Ah well. If anyone finds anything out then do chip in, At least I can use his ears as a barometer of sorts. At last, a use for the ear problem. Hooray, better wrap up folks, there's a cold front coming in. Take care all, Gilly

Timely post. Just last night I was awoken by a very sore ear. I was lying on my left side and it was the left ear that was hurting. Wow, all I had to do was lightly touch it and it hurt like all get out. I rolled over and almost all the pain was gone in the morning. Anyone else have the same thing?
Ch(ear)s,
Timo

I've had that happen, too. Usually that kind of ear pain for me is because I slept in a position that was hurting my ear or I was starting to get a cold and while I was sleeping the congestion settled on one side. The other kind of ear problem I get is more of a dull aching than extreme pain. Let us know if this continues or you figure out what's going on with your ear.

Ch(ear)s ... ohhh lol, can always trust you for a groaner, Timo. Have had the exact same as you describe many times over the years. It's not fun! Nothing has ever come of it tho, just yet another discomfort to disturb sleeps. We had a longish thread on this very thing awhile back. I've had the blocked ears sensation for a long time now as others mention, though a specialist declared that my hearing is fine! Ha. When I asked him why then did I always need to crank up the volume, he suggested,.. "Well, maybe you just like it that way!" lol! Personally I don't think it's related to AS, lots of folks have hearing issues, but who knows? May just be from some meds? My sis tho is going deaf due to a dx of Otosclerosis. It's a condition where little teensie bones of inner ear begin to calcify!! Hugs! mig

Hi Rita. My ear might have been folded but by the time I woke up from the pain, it was normal. So, I'm not sure about that. It was so strange, though, the lightest touch was all that was needed to feel whatever was going on. If it happens again I'll see if that was the case.
Thanks!
Timo

Yup, I've had that for years and years. Need painkillers at night to sleep for that reason alone sometimes. Mentioned it to my rheumy, but he'd never heard of external ear flares before.
By the way Timo, here's a link to the external ear flare thing we had going some while ago...
