Thanks Tim. That's some good information, I'll keep it in mind. I won't be getting the new computer for a while yet, but I saw yesterday that some of the ones I was looking at on line said they were Vista compatible. Maybe by the time I get around to buying mine, I will have a better idea of whether or not people like Vista. It will take some time to get the bugs worked out if it, I imagine.

Well I use mine to make my living and the last 5 have all been Dell's. I am writing this from my laptop which is almost a year old and the newest.

I also usually look at the refurbs if I can find one with the resources I need. Usually save 30% or so.

Ok, I am a Mac guy. I have had a Macintosh at home since the 80's. I have a couple of Dell's at work. I still really like the Mac. With the new intel Macs you can run Windows, but I havn't found a reason to yet.

It sounds like you've had good luck with your Dell's. I'd say anyone who has had 5 of them must be happy with their performance. Thanks for your help.

My husband has had several Mac's too, and he swears by them. I thought about switching over to a Mac, but I use a PC at work, and just didn't want to deal with working on two different computers, if you know what I mean. I think the Mac's have an advantage in that they don't get the viruses, but they are more expensive. The other thing is that there are a lot of software programs that aren't designed to work with Mac's.

My husband has a new Mac and loves it. In fact he just bought new speakers with a subwoofer and is enjoying downloading music from iTunes.

Hi there!
The dell support was excellent! I called them. I think it was when I first set up the computer and was trying to figure out the problem with the Outlook express. They helped me out asap and no problems since then. I love my Dell and hope to get a new one soon! Hope is the key word.

Hi Janet,

We have had several computers over the years laptop and desktop.

Currently we have one with different parts but we also have a HP and our laptops are Dell.

The ONLY bad thing I can say about our Dell laptop right now is that the cord that goes from the computer to the outlet..we are having problems getting it to make a connection which I am sure is from plugging and un-plugging it to take it different places in the house.

Bill took it to a computer place and they wanted like $169.00 to sauter (not sure that is spelled right) so Bill and my son-in-law worked on it together but it still isnt working so we are either going to have to pay it or right now it is un usable.

As far as Dell support it has been great...at different times when Bill can not sleep I have woke up saw him on his phone with the tech guys at 3 in the morning..sometimes it might take a few minutes to get to someone but when you do they are always nice and helpful and stay on as long as you need them.

There are alot of good computers out there I am sure whatever you pick you will be happy.

Take Care,

Lisa
