Hi guys,

Well I am so happy to be able to say that Jon has FINALLY acheived complete remission of ALL his AS symptoms!!!

He officially started the NSD 1 June 2004 so it's been 2 years and 9 months. Although he responded well to the diet in the beginning, it did still take him 9 months to give up the NSAIDS and even then he still had daily low level pain (like level 2-3 out of 10) for some more months after that and occasional flares. Then it went to no pain anywhere except one little trouble spot at a time, simmering away quietly. Like maybe his knee for a couple of months, then that would come right and it would move to his neck for a couple of months etc.

Over the last few months he has just gotten better and better. I'm sure it started once he started eating dessicated coconut everyday and I have read about all the benefits of coconut oil so perhaps this has contributed to him finally getting rid of the last niggles.

He is even eating a lot more "fringe" foods with no problems. Still, we are being cautious and he doesn't want to experiment too much just yet. We know his remission is DIET-INDUCED so come off the diet and say goodbye to the remission.

I actually never thought he would achieve complete remission, we were just glad of the improvements he had.

I hope this gives hope and encouragement to those of you who are making slow progress on the diet. Any progress is a good sign. Stick with it and in TIME you will get there!

Thanks to everyone for their help and advice over the last couple of years.
Love you guys,

Chelsea

He officially started . . .

Sounds like he came under orders . .

'Then you should say what you mean,' the March Hare went on. 'I do,' Alice hastily replied; 'at least - at least I mean what I say - that's the same thing , you know.' 'Not the same thing a bit!' said the Hatter.

Very to good to hear of Jon“s remission Chelsea, undoubtedly there has been a lot of work and patience on your end justly rewarded.

Congratulations on success,

One of the major scientic tenets supporting the use of the NSD / LSD requires that the patient's GI tract heal enough to slow or stop chronic re-infection.

Can you speculate or report what Jon did or stopped doing that allowed or promoted his GI tract healing?

Congratulations and I hope you two celebrate and long and happy pain free life! I know it feels fantastic for all your hard to work to have paid off. After only 5 months on NSD, I am starting to notice healing myself, flares are only lasting a few hours. You have been a great help to me as well. Thanks.

P.S.

I've been eating lots of coconut too!

Orders, heck.
I'm living on another continent and in the opposite equatorial zone and when I contemplate a fringe food I usually find myself visualizing that purple elf logo.... WWCD ?

Hahaha, he most certainly did!! I may have found out about the diet and researched it for him but we wouldn't have gotten anywhere if Jon hadn't been willing to actually DO it and the fact that once he started seeing results he never wanted or even tried to cheat.
