I feel like I'm always sick and I was just wondering if this is a part of AS or a part of some other problem I might have.. I think it has to do with being anemic but i'm not sure. I bruise very easily. i can carry my baby on my hip and i'll find a bruise later. this just increases my pain because obviously it hurts when i'm bouncing my baby on my bruised hip! i get bruises everywhere. on my legs, feet, arms, hands, hips, belly, my son even gave me a bruise on my forehead not too long ago.

another thing that is bothering me is veins popping out. it feels like a bruise when they pop, but they don't go away. i have some from a couple years ago and lately i just had a few more pop out and i hate the way it looks. its not popping like bulging, but i can clearly see the blue line.

Hello Ummkhalid,

I am the opposite that I rarely get sick. Very infrequently do I catch a cold or flu or such. I also do not bruise easily.

Your observation regarding anemia may have something to it. My wife is anemic and bruises rather easily as well. Blackstrap molases is excellent for anemia (I actually learned that here from another Kicker). My wife has eaten at times and can notice that her anemia does better. If only she liked the taste (she would eat it more often).

Best to you,

Tim

the anemia is a big problem with me i just can't shake it off with molasses unfortunately. i've been anemic for 4 years, on iron supplements for 4 years, and eating as much meat as i can possibly stand. that's why i feel like im 60 yrs old, i just can't get myself healthy it seems no matter how hard i try.

Is your anemia due to malabsorption of iron, or low iron. There is a difference and they are treated very differently.

How is you platelet count? If you have a low platelet count you would be inclined to bruise more easily and open wounds would take longer to clot. I would think that your Dr. would "flag" this and notify you of a low platelet count if this were the case, but wanted to make you aware just in case.

Kind Regards,
Jay

I find myself with recurring low ferrtin (iron) counts and low red blood cell (RBC) counts. While the Floradix liquid product has helped me some, and I am still fond of this product, I felt like I needed something with more "horsepower".

I recently started taking an iron supplement that is an amino acid chelate. It has more elemental iron than the Floradix liquid (27mg vs 10mg per serving), and supposedly has a superior absorption rate. Not sure what amino acid(s) are used to form the bond with the iron, but you can also look for a supplement labeled as ferrous glycinate. I only became aware of this information recently. There are also two articles attached should you be inclined to read. I have not been back for bloodwork since starting it, but will disclose my results after I go for a draw next week.

Hiya,

there is an anemia associate with chronic inflammation, which will make you feel ill and tired at the same time, what are your white blood cell counts, are ESR and/or CRP raised. when I have this type of anemia it is flagged as possible chronic inflammation on the blood tests. ( I'll see if I can find the indications of this )

What drugs are you on?

What about vitamins B esp B12 and folate?

Whats your diet like, I have had asian wife/girlfriends even mother(s) in law who bruise easily slightest thing very black bruising, and I put it down to too much rice not enough fresh veggies and fruit.....Sounds like I beat them LOL......)f

I hope you feel better soon, kids are great but it's hard when you are always ill/tired....but that can be an indication of chronic inflammationn.....

wow all you guys here are so smart! i can tell you all have gone through being desperate and searching for answers, just like me.

i think my red blood cells were fine most of the time, but the white blood cells were low. does that make sense?
