Along with my allergies, I'm having a lot of difficult with mucous drainage. Is this common in AS patients? I've talked to another AS patient and he has the same kind of problems. Dont want to sound to gross. I'm up half the night because of the drainage problem. Any suggestions? I've taken Allegra-D, sudafed, etc. etc. I'm on the remicade infusion, so dont know if that's what started it. Thanks, Flip

Hi Flip,

In the past and at times when I have allergies or bronchitis my Dr. has prescribed Wellbid-D 1200mg/40mg it is a huge pill...lol

You might ask your Dr. about it..I take 1 pill twice daily.

Good luck,

Lisa

Did you have any of these problems previously?

I have been on Enbrel since Jan, and the past month I have developed killer allergies or something like allergies.

I went to dr with sore throat, etc and he gave me Clarinex. Took it, prob went away, then 2 weeks later - BAM!

Worse sinus pressure of my life, my teeth were killing me, along with my whole head, plus very sore throat. I spoke to a nurse and she likened this to the "flu-like" symptoms that can occur with Enbrel. But that doesn't exactly fit either --

Going crazy with sinuses in NJ! THANKS, Jess

my allergies got to the point where i needed an antihistimine....
after trying a few, i found that if i take zyrtec every night all year long,
i don't have that constant inside the head sinus pressure, or the eye mucous that felt like i constantly had something in my eye (but if i was able to ball up the mucous and rub it out, it stopped hurting), or that phlegm in my throat.

if my allergies get worse, i'd do allergy shots.

for a while a few months ago, i thought my allergies were getting worse, but i realized that eating even slightly hot spicy food was doing the exact opposite that it should....rather than clearing me out like it used to, it was making me really congested and making my throat feel "tight"....i think i'm overly sensitive to capsacin (it really burns my skin when i've tried the capsasin creams for joint pain....needed to use ice and a hydrocortisone cream to bring down the burning and redness)....since staying away from all hot food (no matter how mild), the allergy symptoms from food have disappeared.....

so i might think about food allergies too....
an allergist can test for those by doing the skin tests....

i don't think my allergies and musculoskelatal problems are related.
i've had the allergies since my early 20s (they just got worse over time)
and the musculoskelatal / tendon / SI problems since 35.

if i were you, i'd see an allergist, if you can't find an OTC allergy medicine that works. the allergist could decide if allergy shots are the way to go or not.

sue
