Sarah,

Yep, could sympathize with your mother. You know my Mom laughs at me sometimes when my kids do something to...as I call it.... "terrorize" me She says payback is so much fun.

I don't remember being a daredevil really, but now that I think back I DO remember a lot of trips to the ER as a kid.

Take care,
Pam

Hi Bradford,

Mt Hood is one place Noah really wants to snowboard. They have a summer snowboarding camp with the pros that he really wants to attend.
I saw on the news there have been a couple of really bad accidents there in the past month. Scary times. I had a friend who lost his legs after being caught in an avalanche there while on a school outing years ago.
I know I will worry about him, but I do hope he can get back up on the mountain as I know how important it is to him.

Thank you,
Pam

Hi Angie,

Yes, I am grateful that it wasn't much worse. I know it could have been. Sounds like your son is off to a good start in your gray hair development My son will tease me and ask, "So what did I do for you to get that new gray hair Mom?" ... he just gets 'the look'

Take care,
Pam

Don't worry about the sprains but avalanches are 1 thing to worry about esp since they're riding out of bounds. Does he wear an avalanche beacon?

Thanks everyone for the replies.

It has been a hectic week around here. But Noah is doing much better. It has been a week. He is still limping a bit, and using the crutches at times. I did talk him out of going snowboarding today. He had said he was going to, since the doc said a week at least. Now he seems to think he is going to participate in some competitions this weekend. Lori you are right... kids will be the death of us yet

And the girl who broke her pelvis..... Back to work already She is one of the lift operators. She was afraid they would fire her if she didn't go back to work. I think the mountain air may affect the brain

Thanks again everyone

Phew Pam - TG I never had no kiddoes, when a mom *always a mom! As it is I can enjoy em and hand em back...

Now, please impress on your son, that as this is a big ligament and soft tissue injury, he MUST take it easy on that ankle. Been there and done an ankle in - not funny. Ankles are notorious and take forever to heal. I*F not careful, will always have a wretchedly weak ankle, one that will keep on giving way...he don't want to go there!

Vit B is excellent in helping to promote healing. When in Germany, and had done that same ankle in, again, I was given a Vit-B injection to help promote healing. Sure did help. Was good.

So, run that one past your doctor. Vit-B injection. (Done in Europe but not here in the UK). Also, to be careful on blood clots - a few days of asprin will help in that direction. Recent article on ankle injuries and blood clots! Got to be V. careful - unfortunately, I didn't keep the article. But, will see IF I can find it.
