If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi Everyone! Anyone out there suffer from any type of eczema? Went to my GP today for EKG and miscellaneous pre-op work....and he mentioned how dry my skin looked. I showed him my hands....how tender and sensitive they have become and any little bump or scratch leaves these terrible marks on my joints.......they scar real easy now. He said he thinks it's dishydrotic Eczema. Said he wants me to take prednisone in a cream but not until a few weeks after surgery b/c prednisone can slow down the healing.....and would rather wait for now. It's not anything real bad.....just makes my hands look real, real dry and "crumply" Thoughts anyone? Toodles! Angie

Not me, sorry. I've had rashes that were photosensitive but no eczema. I'm sure you needed just ONE more thing to make your life a little more comfortable! If it's not one thing, it's another..... Susie

Angie,
I get eczma, not sure what type. I used sigmacort, but for really bad patches I use novasone. I've been told to use liquid washing detergent rather than powder (on clothes). It got too expensive. But I try to get all cleaning products (including shower soap) unscented. It seems to help a bit. You can also get soap free shower gels. When things get really bad I used these (but they're too expensive to use all the time). Other wise I try things like baby soap (I can hear you laughing from here!!!).
Hope these tips help, Take care and keep smiling, Rose

Angie, I have this! I get patches on my ring fingers... I used Hydrocortisone Cream, worked like a charm. When I started MTX, it went away for whatever reason!! Mine would actually get bubbles full of water, very sensitive, EWW! ******** Kristin

Hhmmm, interesting... the extreme dryness we have in common, easily scarred, and sensitive skin... I can't go without my Vaseline Intensive Care lotion, Extra Strength for Sensitive skin. I haven't been diagnosed with Eczema though (not yet anyways). Also, very dry lips and need lip balm several times daily, year round! And the dry eyes are also a problem. I try to keep my fluids up, but it's like my body doesn't absorb fluids... go figure!
Danielle still dancin ... some days ;)

I have dry, itchy skin too, and it's my back that's driving me crazy, don't they sell back scratchers any more anywhere? I used to slather myself with baby oil and then rinse off under the shower but it makes the tub slick and I'm not as steady on my feet as I used to be. With the dry eye problem, now you have me wondering if it's yet another AS thing to deal with -- or just dry skin because it's winter in New England. Hi Angie
My Kids both use cortisone cream for eczema but have been told to use it carefully as it can thin the skin its used on (not good if skin is already marking alot) so take care when you start using it.

Hi Cheryl
I have not been able to reach my back for some time but have the perfect backscratcher. Dont laugh but its a plastic pasta scoop, little fingers to scratch with and gentle enough not to break the skin. It is also a different colour to my normal kitchen utensils so I dont get mixed up, otherwise the family would complain.

Angie, I have to admit, when I saw the title, I smiled. Dishhydrotic Eczema?? I get mine from laundry. Enough of the funny stuff. I don't know if this would be a practible solution for people with dry skin/irritated skin. It's no secret, I'm allergic to everything!!I have always had trouble with scented soaps. And even with an unscented soap, I would have to slather myself with body lotion after a shower or bath. Then about 10 years ago, I tried handmade soap. Just tried it on my hands. I was amazed at how it helped. I tried it all over, and have never used anything else. I still have to lotion my feet, probably because I never wear shoes; and my hands, but then again, I do laundry in an old wringer washing machine. But I have never, ever used body lotion since. In the soap making process, a by-product of saponification is gycerine. This is salted out of commercial soaps (and used in the explosives industry), and the soaps that say they contain it, have such a piddly little bit. Added scents cause irritation. Even the type of "fat" used in the process can aggrivate and/or contribute to dry skin. I make no claim that this will heal your skin conditions, but it shouldn't make them worse. If anyone wants more info, just ask, and I'll tell you how to make your own. If you think I'm , well, I explained myself over in the SS section. Hugs, Cindy
